Tonight, we went to the restaurant Late Weinschaenke in Meerbusch-Lank. What an awesome place! The restaurant is quite new. Alte Weinschänke is located in a pedestrian area in Meerbusch-Lank in an old building. The building is very well retaliated with a fireplace in the middle of the restaurant, comfortable chairs and nice tables. It's a beautiful mix of old and modern. We had a trilogy of salmon with a perfectly done grilled pice of salmon, a salmon tartare and a pice of Balik salmon. the main course was a wonderfully prepared halibut filet with sweet potato gnocchi and a fantastic foam sauce. The halibut was quite a large portion. Therefore, we skipped the desert but rounded of the meal with a glass of grappa provided by the owner. The service was excellent. I made a reservation for a few days from now and I'm convinced that I will not be disappointed. Pricing was not cheap but absolutely in line with the service and quality provided. Late Weinschaenke is defiantly a great addition for Meerbusch and the North Dusseldorf area.

A fine dining Italian restaurant with excellent wine collection. Actually the wine racks surrounds all tables. We tasted different wines suggested by the person attending us. We also had Spinach with fried egg on the top and shredded white Truffle mushroom over the egg. We were told only the last piece was available as it is available only in some part of Italy in October. It give an excellent taste and aroma. However the main dish of baked fish was let down as it was too dry. A replacement dish is provided almost towards end of the dinner but it was quite good. The desert was another excellent dish with raw egg is bitten by hand only and served over ice-cream. The taste last in tongue for long time. But it very very expensive and still all tables are occupied inspite of that. It is must to book your table in advance. As the space is a constraint with wine racks occupying lot of space.

Visited after a long Friday at Medica. The whole experience was a complete contrast to the packed restaurants in the Altstadt during the fair period. It's a fairly long taxi ride from the hotel ships but well worth it.The menu isn't long but everything was fresh and the ingredients are obviously of the highest quality. The goose liver terrine was wonderful, as was the monkfish main course. We let the chap in charge choose wines for us and he provided a super set of wines at what turned out to be reasonable prices. The highlight for me was the Riesling Auslese with the pudding, as good as any dessert wine I've ever tasted, but the earlier courses were accompanied by wines which were just right as well. We'll definitely go again - roll on Medica 2012! Or maybe we'll return with our wives for a weekend before then.
