Ate here because I was staying at the Drachenburg. Great location in the idyllic fishing village of Gottlieben. If the weather permits they have a beautiful terrace overlooking the Rhine. Food was good. Some interesting starters with marinated river fishes. Main courses fairly standard geschnetzeltes faire, but well executed. Service is friendly. Not cheap, but that is partly attributable to the swiss franc.

Bei Sonnenschein ist die Terrasse am Anleger mit Blick über den Untersee zur Höri und der Reichenau ein Traum. Leider war es kalt und regnerisch, so dass wir im Saal gegessen haben. Bedient vom Chef persönlich, waren wir sehr zufrieden. Ich hatte das Tartar als Hauptgang, das kann ich guten Gewissens empfehlen.Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt.

This is an excellent restaurant. We were staying at a hotel nearby and tried this restaurant. Normally, I would avoid restaurants that are part of hotels, but this was fantastic service and food.The salad was very good. The main course of filet mignon was one of the best I have had. The vegetables with it were very good. Wir haben uns hier für ein Glace nieder gesetzt. Die Bedienung kam prompt - leider war Erdbeere nicht verfügbar (das Lieblings Eis von meinem Sohn). Die Alternative sowie der hauseigene Eistee haben aber sehr gut geschmeckt. Die kleine Seeterassse ist traumhaft schön und die Aussicht lädt einfach zum verweilen ein. Kommen gerne wieder

Being right next door to our hotel on a rainy evening we decided to try this restaurant as it received good reviews from trip advisor. We were disappointed, however, by the food. The dining area was very nice with an old world swiss charm. The service was so-so, but the food was the disappointing part. My wife's fish, though ok, was the most expensive and least well cooked with tons of bones (OK, maybe one cannot tell from filet to filet for bones, but the preparation made it difficult to pull these out of the sanderfilet). My vitello tonnato was at best mediocre. Decided given the prices and food quality to skip desert. Of the different restaurants we visited in Ermatingen, this was the worst. This is not to say bad, just not good and when the price is factored in, a bit of a disappointment.

I come to the region of Untersee often, and Hirschen is by far my favorite restaurant on the lake. Their cordon-bleu is the best you find anywhere - they have their own butcher shop and the meat is delicious. Same goes for the salads and all the other side dishes, and their selection of local wines is extensive and very very good. The setting is marvelous. There is a wonderful garden under a gigantic tree right by the lakeshore, and their indoor space is a charming room with low ceiling and a cosy atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable, and the owner of the restaurant, who seems to be ever-present, speaks excellent English and one can have interesting and insightful conversation with him. Overall, this is a great restaurant, and I'll keep returning whenever I can.

We stayed on the Bodensee for a couple of nights before business in Zurich. We were surprised by the quality of the restaurants in Ermatingen and this was the best of them. So good, we went back for lunch before leaving on Sunday. The first meal was a business lunch with summer truffles and noodles, then sanderfilet in a very nice preparation followed by pistachio ice cream with figs. Not only an excellent meal, but at 39 SF, the best value of the entire trip. The next meal, though more pricey as a la carte was still very good. Attractive setting inside, but better places for outside eating. Servers were efficient and friendly. Enough english to get by given my rusty german. Parking on site made getting there trivial.

Meine Frau und mein Sohn waren hier um etwas zu trinken. Nach einer Weile und diversen Gerichten die an uns vorbei liegen hat uns dann doch der Hunger gepackt und wir haben etwas zum Essen bestellt. Das Essen kam schnell und war sehr lecker. Einzig das Personal im Aussenbereich könnte etwas schneller und aufmerksamer sein. Ansonsten alles top.

Went here upon arriving in Ermatingen on a lovely afternoon. Sat outside and had felchenfilet. The menu wasn't extensive and the restaurant wasn't large, but the environment was nice and the fish was very good. Not much english here and owners did not take credit cars (a bit of a problem in pricey switzerland). One had the impression that what the owners offered was very good, but limited. Certainly friendly and enjoyable setting for outdoors on a pretty day.

This hotel is right on the lake and you can watch the sun go down. The Service is excellent and the food very good. A very wide selection of fish. The Fish Platter is worth trying bit you will need 2 big esters to finish it.
