Cosy small restaurant with nice dishes and friendly atmosphere. The original thing is that there is no menu, so don't expect to order a specific dish for you. On the contrary, dinner starts, and in the course of time you are served with dishes that the are the chef's choice over a period of 2-3 hours in total. Each serving round contains a limited number of dishes with small portions of different types of food (appetisers, fish, chicken, salads etc.), but as there are 6-7 rounds in total (including desert), the total quantity of food that is served is more than enough for an average person. Most of the dishes were Spanish-Mediterranean with some local ones included as well. The service is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. In general we had a very nice dinner and we would definitely recommend it.

A relatively expensive restaurant specializing mainly in seafood and mussels. We sat down and immediately served a plate of good breads with butter spreads. Personally, I am less attached to seafood, therefore I ordered a fish dish that was well made and served nicely except for the sauce that was not really tasty. As a start, I took some wild mushroom soup that was quite boring and salty. My friends for dinner was enjoying himself more. He ordered a soup of Shrimp and a mussels dish which was a large, respectable dish.

We stayed at the Royal Hotel and nearly had a meal there - not much choice. We dicided to go around the corner and founnd this great restaurant. What a find. There were only 4 staff serving about 50 people. 2 were in the kitchen and one was serving the tables, and one was serving drinks. Although the menu wasn't in English, the waitress translated it for us at the table. She offered us the wonderful line " This is scampi with, er, what do you call it . . . . .I don't know the word in English You know it, it's the thing that the vampires are frightened of . . . " "Garlic?" "That's it! Garlic. Scampi in garlic."Try the wonderful stooflies (flemish stew) with the local draught Belgian beer.

‘T Schuttershof is een mooi en gezellig restaurant (het is alleen iets te warm als de haard brandt). Een uitgebreide menukaart enkel weinig keuze aan alcoholvrije aperitieven. Het eten was heel verzorgd en lekker. De bediening was vriendelijk!

I know this restaurant because we come here to eat mussels.Yesterday we had their "fish stew" with asparagus, statice and shrimps with cream dressing and new potatoes. We got beautiful and super-fresh cod-fish and salmon. It was a delicious meal; not so cheap, but not too expensive either. Value for money.

Whilst staying with friends we were taken to De Oude Haven Mosselrestaurant. This restaurant is situated in the middle of the town called Philippines. Whilst Philippines is a small town it is full of seafood and fish restaurants. Their speciality is mussels. We entered the restaurant, which was packed with customers and greeted by the owner, who showed us to a table. The drinks list and the food menu is extensive. I had prawns for my starter course and mussels for my main. The prawns were delicious as too were the mussels. The mussels when they arrived are astonishing. All four of us had the same, and the mussels came to us in batches for two people. The bowl that they arrived in was absolutely enormous. There were so many to eat. They were delicious. The staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. A perfect restaurant in which to have a delicious meal. Highly recommended. A note: all of our clothes smelt of mussels the next morning.

We did the wine-dine-sleep formula with friends. Price for the whole programme, including a 5 course dinner with carefully selected superb wines, followed by spending the night in a large and comfortable hotelroom and a good breakfast for 129 euro per person, which is a bargain, seen the quality of the food and the services. We do this once or twice a year since a couple of years now, and are never dissapointed.
