After a "warm welcome ".we have been told off not to take photos of this lovely cafe . Why ? I don't know !! My friends knew the place and all the dishes were very tempting . We had "Russian Pirogi" so good and very light . I had the chicken sausage with ratatouille, very good . All teas were amazing , the green tea with mint and peas was delicious as well as the buckthorn cranberries juniper rosemary hot drink . My friend had the " Pirogi with tvorog " again very light and crispy . A must to go for a quick lunch .

This restaurant (and hotel) are a short walk from the city centre and has a great choice of Russian (Ukrainian, Belorussian) dishes. We particularly liked assorted pickles and "salo" for starters. Mushrooms are great - they use fresh porcini in most of their dishes so the falvour is yum, so go ahead with mushroom soups (soup portions are very generous!), meat with mushrooms etc. I also particularly enjoyed draniki (potato cakes) with salmon. We came for food here twice while in Smolensk!All of this is accompanied by a nice atmosphere and very polite service. Definitely worth a visit!

A very cosy café located in the very heart of Smolensk offering a wide variety of Russian cuisine dishes to every taste. Though the dishes are pre-cooked like in bistro, they are served fresh and hot. The prices are more than democratic.Russian style interiors are also worth mentioning and will be especially appreciated by abroad travellers.As the place is rather popular, you might wait in a queue for some 15-20 minutes at peak times.

This place is known for their cooking and service, although prices above the average, there are no vacant places at times.The food is excellent, waiters are very friendly and ready to help with choices and all requests, really attending to your every call.The place has several halls, bigger and smaller ones, depending on the company.In recent time, this seems teh only place that offers more or less decent Mediterranean cuisine choice, with rather good wines, accompanied by very nice music (sometimes live). A really comfortable place, providing an opportunity for quiet rest in a nice company, but also allowing to dance if you fille like doing that :-)

This is a small restaurant with cosy atmosphere and impeccable service.Their beer is nice and their food is different, turkey breast was unfortunately dry, but the side dish was very tasty. They do not offer elaborate dishes. Recommend

Was lucky to choose this one for the first dinner in Smolensk. Opened just 3 months before, this place really shines - the several small rooms in one of the city wall's towers are styled with great attention to details, and form a great atmosphere. The food (place serves Russian traditional, plus game meat) was excellent, and the service too. A very fine dining, and although the prices are to be considered (very) high for Smolensk, the relax near the (artificial) fireplace is definitely worth it. Be prepared to walk up two floors to reach the preferred room, leaving your coat at the garderobe downstairs. And the live music is classy, too - performance by members of Smolensk symphonic orchestra was professional, pleasing, but at the same time not loud or intrusive (and believe me, I am really choosy on that!). Do not know whether this is every evening, though - but music or not, it is not the main attraction. This being the place itself, the food, and the relax after a day walking around the city in the cool air.Well, what more - just try it, if you visit Smolensk. And be sure to book in advance, if you want to choose table (there's only one for two, directly in front of the "fireplace") - this is one to look for, if you are two!
