Where to eat Pub food in Winnipeg: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

I use the term “eats” as this is not fine cuisine. The French fries are a disaster, however the pickerel was fairly good. The Caesar salad was pleasant. The on site beer was bitter. Overall the food was fairly decent. The service was very good, attentive without being overwhelming. Now the real negative: the restaurant. It is a cold rather dark factory setting with concrete floors, uncomfortable chairs at bleak institutional tables although they are real wood versus faux wood. However the noise volume requires one to shout at friends to make oneself heard. The constant overwhelming din is horrid. Lighting on the walls change, sometimes low, then suddenly bright. I couldn’t wait to pay up and leave. I rate this restaurant a 4 out of 10.Hello,Thank you for coming to visit our restaurant. I'm sorry that your experience wasn't up to the standards we try to hold ourselves to.You are correct though that we are not fine cuisine as our menu is designed as a fresh take on classic pub food. If you are looking for a more fine cuisine dinner though we do have options such as the Flat Iron Steak, Mushroom Risotto and Kung Pao Ribs among others that may be more up to the fine dining experience than the Fish and Chips.A few questions that we would like to know in order to improve for the future:What beer did you have that was bitter? We do have a few beers such as the Mad Scientist IPA and Queens Best Bitter that are expected to have the classic bitter taste to them that make up their style, while we have others that are not intended to be. Our serving staff should be able to guide customers to a beer they will enjoy. How do you normally enjoy your fries? We do make our fries in house from scratch. Pressing the potatoes each day to make them. While they are enjoyed by most we are always open to feedback on how to improve. What time of day did you come at? Our lighting is meant to stay fairly consistent throughout the day with staff only darkening it as we go into dinner and late night. We would be interested to hear more about the lights changing randomly as you mentioned. If you have the chance to email us some more details about your visit we'd be happy to hear more about how we can improve to make any future visit a more pleasant one.We can be contacted at: [email protected] look forward to hearing more from you.Thank you,Jaeden

I have always wanted to go to the Canadian Brewhouse but never had a reason until the other day! They had "Disney Princess Trivia" - I understand that the trivia was put on by another company but WOW! The restaurant really had no idea what to do/how it works/where to sit us etc Very sad that they were not able just to have saved one entire section for Disney trivia people instead we were all around the room and it was impossible to hear when the girl was asking the questions (it was through a microphone butt he acoustics were terrible. 2nd our server! It was as if she had never worked a large party! Messed up on our orders - I had to press this "button thing for numerous times" to get her to come over etc; my friend had to wait over 30 minutes for yam fries?!?! she said Oh, the kitchen is really busy - and I had to ask numerous times for another glass of wine. Overall, not impressed - yes - nachos are delicious but for the service etc don't know if i would go back!Hi Anna - Thanks for letting us know about your experience. I do apologize that your reservation was not set up in advance - for these events, we are given a list of reservations from the event organizers to set up. The space we provide for trivia events is in fact all together, it occupies 80% of our room; your group was seated in a different section only because we did not have the reservation on the list we were provided. I do apologize for the wait that you experienced - with an event of 150 people that starts at a specific time, it can impact food and drink times. While these events are fun and bring new guests through our doors, they do not provide the same experience as coming in for a regular visit. We would love to have you back so you can see what we are all about! If you have a moment, please reach out to me at [email protected] so we can discuss this further. Thanks again

Best burgers in town . I like the Harvard burger but I’ll switch it up now and then . The homemade fries are also some of the best in Winnipeg. Bun is nice and soft, and you can get through the whole burger without it falling apart. If you want something sweet afterwards, the whiskey donut holes are spot on.This place gets busy during game nights, especially when they have the $5 features. Love a place that has a decent selection of local beers on tap, and decently stocked bar. Every visit the staff have been very efficient and friendly, and this week was no different.

I watched Scotland play their first game in the women’s World Cup here. The place was deserted having only just opened, but it stayed that way the entire 2 hours I was there. That meant that I got a good seat at the bar and peace to enjoy the football. The service was ok - understated which I prefer. I would go back here,

I had the fish and curry chips. Wife had souvlaki chicken with greek salad. She said the salad was fantastic. Fish was very good. Beer on tap was great. Service was wonderful. The people watching in the neighborhood was entertaining and colorful. Would definitely go back.
