The NEW Sandford and NEW Owners have bought this local pub into the 21st century !! Still with its public bar serving Real Local Ales and a great range of lagers and wines it now boasts one of the best dining experiences in Dorset. Offering a wide range o
We stopped here for lunch. Found the place to be very quiet. Service was quick, drinks arrived promptly and food order taken all in a polite manner. My first choice meal of the soufflé from the starters menu was not available. So I ordered ham, egg & chips. Only to have the waitress return and advise that this was not available either. Not wanting a huge meal I settled on just a portion of triple cooked chips. My partners choice of chargrilled chicken and chips was available. Perhaps unfortunately. When the chicken dish arrived it looked OK but when eating the mushroom it was clearly burnt. My partner cruelly gave me a bit to try and the taste and texture were charcoal! Worse when he began to eat the chicken it became evident that much of it was quite pink. Whilst one side at least looked cooked the other didn't look like it had been cooked very much at all. Most of the chicken got left on the plate. When the waitress came to collect our plates we did point out that much of the chicken was very pink. Her response was that she was sure it was cooked. I pointed out that I was not sure it was cooked and I certainly wouldn't have eaten it either. Now we are not holiday makers looking for a free meal but I would expect that where something is clearly not right with a meal then the price might be adjusted to reflect this. It wasn't. We really couldn't be bothered to argue so paid & left. We won't return and if you want to be sure of a good meal I would go elsewhere. Having looked at the reviews this place seems very inconsistent.

We called in on the off chance they had a table available on a Saturday evening, were seated very quick, the staff very friendly, I had the Salmon it was awsome, husband had the Gammon which he enjoyed, the Apple crumble and custard was nice( but would have liked to have had clotted cream instead).Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. Sorry about the clotted cream!

We are so lucky to have the Red Lion in Wareham. We have visited all the restaurants and pubs in Wareham and I have to say the food and service here is the best and I would go far as saying it is the best in The Purbeck Area of Dorset. The food is superb and the staff are so friendly. The pub is lovely and clean too and warm.

Our third venue visited for lunch, whilst on holiday .Iwent for double burger, my wife had ham salad and cheese. The food was as good as the other pubs we visited but in relation to the others was overpriced for no good reason. I had to go inside to ask a member of staff for knives as the outside station was empty he returned fairly quickly and dropped them into the relevant tray. We were sitting close by but had to collect them there were only two tables occupied so he knew it was I who had asked. This is hardly reflective of the prices charged. To recap no worse and no better than other pubs visited ,however a little overpriced. As there is a lot of competition probably will not bother again

Public House With Restaurant
We stopped here after a long walk around Dorset and it was just what we needed. Friendly staff and a nice area outdoors, all dogs are welcome and get some free treats from the staff!Highly recommended for lunch, decent food and good prices!

Such an odd set up. Restaurant like being in someoneâs lounge. Conservatory looked like it was about to fall apart. Granted big portions but of poor quality. Should have bailed at the bar but pushed on. Normally Iâd say something rather than just post something but wasnât sure where to start....

Popped in by chance on Saturday evening. Restaurant was busy. Very Nice staff sorted us a table within 10 minutes and so friendly and helpful. We ordered the kings burger. It was a jammed packed burger with cheese and gherkins and thick back bacon and a super burger sauce on the side. Burger was very Nice homemade patty. Tasted great. Would recommend going. The other food that looked to be coming out looked great to. Portion sizes great. Definitely going back.

Recommendation from the guest house so decided to give it a try. Gorgeous food, friendly staff, good value. Portobello mushroom burger really nice, rib eye steak tender, cooked perfectly and good value, chips good, glad we went.

Food good, landlord very friendly. Other staff not so much, seems more of a locals pub. Very quiet in restaurant, no background noise- but awkward when only a few diners there.

The Quay Inn a tranquil pub and Bed & Breakfast set in the beautiful surroundings of Dorset. Enjoy the views of Frome river set in Wareham whilst enjoying a quiet drink with your friends or family.
All 6 of us were impressed with our meals. Friendly and efficient service. Good value. Cosy setting. Would thoroughly recommend.
