This restaurant has recently been renovated into its current state. I have to say they have done a very good job! It is very pleasant and the staff were very helpful and friendly. My daughter requires a gluten free diet and the staff helped a lot to find the good things on the menu. The menus are typical pub food but good quality.

Really tasty steak we all enjoyed it, took the dog in too and there's a whole bar for people with dogs. Cheap meals 9.95 each for the main meal. Only downside is the parking opposite there's not alot of spaces and it was abit of a nightmare but after the meal the nice waitress said you could have parked right outside on the curb but we wasn't sure as the road is pretty narrow and on a bit of a hill. But just a heads up to anyone planning to go, also There's a small garden for dog business if you push the gate open out back.

A prominent location in Joppa on the main road through to Colylton. A rather pubbish look from the outside. Inside it is comfortable and rustic with a dining area at the back and a lawn with outside eating available. Staff were very welcoming and conversational. A typical menu and the food was quick in arriving with good portions, well cooked and tasty. Would be happy to return.

We stopped here for dinner one evening when driving south from Glasgow towards Turnberry for a golf holiday. The staff here are very friendly and we enjoyed high quality gourmet Scottish pub food here. Fresh ingredients and generous potion sizes made this meal highly satisfying. The steak pie was a meat lover’s delight, and the lemon meringue dessert was simply divine. Would definitely return - it’s a great place for a casual meal, and also seems amenable to larger groups as well. The adjacent table was celebrating an 18th birthday and the birthday boy was hilariously trolled with a princess-themed birthday cake. Good to see that people have a sense of humour there!

I went to this restaurant on a fairly busy Saturday evening recently. I was very disappointed with the slow service, we waited almost 40 minutes between the starter and the main meal and 25 minutes between the main meal and the pudding. I feel this was excessively slow as it is pub grub and a lot of it will only need heated up and plated up. Other similar pubs in the area do not keep you waiting as long on a Saturday early evening. We didn't walk out because we were hungry and we kept thinking the main course would arrive at any minute. It's not quite as bad to wait for pudding as you're not hungry then. The staff were very pleasant when they did arrive and we were seated by a very pleasant member of staff. I would say the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food was very mediocre and I cannot recommend anything that I or my fellow diners had. Having said all that, I will try it once more as I was there last December and the food and the service were much better.Hi Marie,Thank you for your review. We're very sorry that you had a disappointing experience with us recently. We pride ourselves on the great service and quality of food we provide and so it is sad to hear you were let down by the extremely slow service which caused a big delay receiving your meals. This certainly doesn't sound like the experience we would expect. Our team members do work hard to ensure every visit is perfect so we'd like to apologise our standards fell short on this occasion. Please be assured we have passed your feedback on to the General Manager of the restaurant to ensure this is addressed with the Chef so that this experience is not repeated going forward. In future, please do not hesitate to speak with the Duty Manager about any issues as they’d be happy to help whilst you are in-house.Once again, we apologise for the disappointment caused and hope that you will give us another chance in the future for a more enjoyable experience. Had lunch at the coylton arms today. Varied choice on the Sunday lunch menu. Restaurant was very quiet which was nice. We didn't have a starter but all 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our main course. Staff were very friendly. Myself and my grandpa had steak pie which was lush. Cubes of steak were so tender and just melted in the mouth. Cajun chicken salad was out of this world. Also the chicken breast with black pudding. Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection. Desserts were stunning. I would very much recommend to come here for food and a lovely friendly welcome with nice atmosphere

We visit here regularly and welcome the changes which ongoing at the moment. Visited tonight at 5.30 and were given the main menu and a specials typed sheet. We both fancied the roast beef but when we were ordering were told there was no roast beef. Why not tell you when the menu is given instead of waiting till you decide? We WERE told when given the dessert menu that 2 out of 4 “specials” were not available. Quite early to have run out of 3 of the specials. Also we have been 3 times during the school holidays with our granddaughters and twice out of the 3 my wee granddaughter has been given apple juice which is “off”. I was given the explanation the second time that they decant the juice into plastic bottles and it goes off quite quickly but if they are aware of this why are the staff not alerted to checking. If we have been given “off” juice on two visits how many other people have. It was replaced on both occasions by the same lady who picked up on it before we even had a chance to complain which is rather strange, as if she was expecting it. Only later did I think it would have been a nice gesture if it had been taken off the bill but it wasn’t.This IS a favourite place with us but there are just a few wee tweaks needed in customer service. I would also like to add that the staff are lovely.
