Il Vesuvius is one of my favourite places to eat. You are treated like a long lost friend when you arrive, the service is attentive and friendly and the food!! Try the Pollo alla crema di funghi - absolutely wonderful! The food is always exceptionally good and very reasonably priced. No better way to spend an evening with friends or family!

Kids ordered baby pizzas but got full sized which was a bonus! Proper pizza with thick, hand-pulled dough. It is very popular looking around the inn but there are plenty of other options if that's not your thing. The chicken and mushroom pie i had was delicious. The white wine sauce was a little runny and the chicken was the tiniest bit dry but otherwise full marks.

We dine in chains before theatre visits of which there are two in T.Wells. Prezzo, and Cote are always heaving so we thought we would try ASK. Warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff that’s where it ends. No uniform as such quite a scruffy look. The house white was warm, I had to ask for some ice to chill it down a a bit. My husband was pleased he hadn’t gone for a better wine. My light meal was just that a tiny pizza with raw. veg salad. The pizza had the barest of the many ingredients mentioned in the menu although the base was ok. My husbands ravioli, was odd. Supposedly charcoal pasta on one half ordinary on the other stuffed with a beef in Chianti Ragu. Sounded appealing, but tough pasta with a meat paste inside. And a small amount of sauce. Plenty of it. It my husband left most of it. Condiments had to be requested, for some reason they’re kept on a shelf by the till. The olive oil which I usually like was very bitter. We didn’t stay for dessert or coffee. It’s yet another place where the menu is written in an office somewhere and no one thinks to teach the chef how to cook it. Considering how many of these chains are closing I have no idea why this one is still open. If two chains within a hundred yards are packed, a major review is needed.
