We were staying overnight in Kaikoura and could not find a restaurant that wasn't booked up. We had Black Rabbit pizza on our list so we ended up just going there. We got seated right away and enjoyed the Aloha pizza we ordered. It was fresh and crispy and the staff made sure we didn't need anything else. Highly recommend.

There are two large bar cum restaurants opposite each other. Groper's looks a little more run down, but the food is better. Lots of outdoor seating which if the weather is nice is preferable to indoors, but beware the seagulls. My husband had salmon pizza, but said it was very salty and not that good. I had beef and bacon burger which was better. Both portions were large and came quickly. It has the advantage of being open on Labour Day. Seems a popular place with locals for drinks.
