Reviews on Mediterranean food in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Two thousand years of history have lent Mainz a cosmopolitan air, and museums and cathedrals of various architectural styles dot the city. Bring home a book as a souvenir—Gutenberg worked here, and the museum dedicated to him is a highlight.

We dined here in March 2015 and were delighted with the meal. Four of us, all english speaking, found the waiters tremendously helpful. They were also very entertaining - so much that we took a picture of them and will remember this as one of our favorite times in Mainz. After several restaurants where we ate German food, it was time to enjoy some Italian. We happened upon this restaurant in some of the loveliest walks of Mainz. They are a small restaurant and we didn't have reservations, but it was late in the evening and we were in luck. The staff greeted us with a warm smile and took us to a nice table. Once a larger table opened up, they moved us so we could have a bit more room (without us requesting this). That's great service! We dined on a variety of Italian food and it was all scrumptious. And, even though we were full, we indulged ourselves on their tiramisu. We're glad we did - it was the BEST tiramisu any of us have ever encountered. While the wives worked throughout the week, the husbands revisited this spot for coffee and (possibly) another tiramisu - although they never would admit to that... HIGHLY recommended!

Family owned and well located in the old quarter, with very good terrace ambiance. The tortelloni with spinach was excellent. Afterward the latte macchiato was the best I've had outside of Italy. The service was courteous and attentive. Informal and friendly for solos, couples and families.

If the owner takes your order, there's a good chance that he will sing it back to you! This isn't however the main reason for going here - that's the great Lebanese food. My favourites are humous and/or tabouleh and the rice with lentils or onions served with stewed vegetables and, of course, harisa and Lebanese tea. There's a tasty fish dish on Fridays and the okra is also a popular choice. Having said that, most people order the shawarma (kebab) and seem more than satisified.Expect to queue for 10 minutes - it's well worth it.

This small restaurant is ideal for the days ending. The extensive menu pleases any taste bud and be personalised to your likings. Giovanni is great company and makes good recommendations.I've visited this place with friends for many years.A perfect finishing would be the tiramisu.

Friendly and welcoming staff, clean place with quick and attentive service. English menus available( although they could use some updating). We had only main courses, large and satisfying portions with really decent and well cooked meats. I would have loved to have hand cut fries seasoned with herbs instead of the ones coming out of a package. Also my dish was quite salty, however this is my personal opinion as I am not so keen on salt. The rest of our group didn't seem to mind. Overall I would recommend the place to visitors

One of the best pizzas we've had in Italy. Fresh ingredients, thin crust. Price is very reasonable, lots of choices to pick from. We ate outside on the patio.

Here with local friends, our group numbered six. The meal was leisurely paced definitely not rushed. Very welcoming environment if not a bit crowded and noisy. Extensive menus with enough options for us vegetarians. I was not to keen on my entree because the salmon was fishy but everything else was nice. The service was better than the food with highly polished professional waiters. Prices were moderate but there were a a few costly menu items that nobody at our table ordered. Next time I would avoid the fish but otherwise it's a keeper.

Il Mondo has excellent service and a very friendly staff. The atmosphere is great and most importantly, the food is amazing. I had the beef tartar to start and then the Pizza Mama Mia which is spicy just as advertised. But if youâre a little bit crazy and need it to be spicier, they will be happy to take care of you.
