As the weather was sunny at noon, I took a seat outside in front of the newly opened restaurant. Most of the other tables were occupied too, so they were a bit busy. Nevertheless after an estimated 15 minutes a waiter gave me the menu without any greeting! They donât offer a classic italian menu, but a bit modern. I decided to eat a âInsalata del mercato pomodori e maisâ (as they donât have a side salad on the menu) and a pizza âLa Giuseppeâ. When I could place my order finally, I ordered a beer to drink as well. The beer and salad were served first. Mercato in english means market or mart. They should rename the salad in âinsalata del supermercatoâ as the salad was not freshly chopped or prepared, but tasted like out of the bag. It was served with crema di balsamico which I donât like at all and I donât expect this ingredient to get presented in a restaurant! The salad had some black spots too! I needed to ask a waiter to exchange my fork, as you could see some leftovers on it. The taste of the pizza was ok though, but not extraordinary good. All in all the restaurant is a bit pricy in my mind! I kindly asked to pay the bill of 22⬠with card, which unwillingly was accepted. Iâll give them another chance to convince me when some time has elapsed!

Been here a couple of times and the food has bee n a revelation. The service is good and the food great. The meat is extremely tender making it that much more delicious. Repeat customer assured.

Freising is not a very good place to go for fine dining. I found myself there on a Friday night and thought the city was closed. Talking with locals, the choice was the small but nice, upscale pub/restaurant called Weis'n Huber, but it was booked completely. I found a table of English speakers and they all said, "try Via Vai, about 1 km away and you will like it just as well for less money". Their recommendation was a good one. The menu varied from pizza to very-well-prepared Italian standards. Friendly, helpful staff who all looked more like they were hosting a party than merely serving customers. The external building was very modest and didn't promise much, but the inside was busy, noisy and festive. I liked my choices a lot although the wind list needed some help. A sound, middle-level choice in a city that really seemed not to have many choices. Strange for a university town.

The best Italian restaurant in Freising! Totally pleasant location. Pretty old building in the Neustift area of Freising. A short walk from the old cloister (which now house the county offices) and St. Peter & Paul's church. The interior of the restaurant has lots of wood and is nice and cozy in cool weather. Out front, there's a shady terrace for warm evenings. Consistently friendly service. Delicious hand made pizza and pasta. Good quality, fresh ingredients. Always a pleasure to eat there. Reasonable prices, too!

We had a good time at this small restaurant in Freising. This place is really vegetarian-friendly, the person in charge was very helpful in explaining the veg options on the menu and even offered to prepare some dishes without meat. Very warm service and attitude. The soup was very tasty. Main course was just ok as well. Overall good place.
