Taverna Italian Kitchen is nestled in Saskatoon's historic downtown core within walking distance of a number of major hotels in the renowned entertainment district. The building was originally a grocery store dating back to 1907. In 1969, Taverna started
Group of four arrived at Tavern at noon on a Friday. We were seated promptly, given water and menus, and then were totally ignored by the wait staff. There were two servers one of whom was more interested in setting up tables and the other walked by us repeatedly and completely ignored us. We don't get it - we have eaten there before, are easy to serve and we tip well. We waited 20 minutes out of a one hour lunch break and given we were invisible to the servers we left Taverna and had a great lunch at a neighbouring restaurant. Our tip to others is if you have a one hour lunch break this is not the restaurant for you.

You really can have it all-a classy restaurant with a young, hip, urban vibe that says, "Wow!" And still remains comfortable for loyal clientele- and Manos Restaurant's renovation has proven it, earning Stantec Architecture & Interior Design the Design Co
Stuffed mushroom caps are a cheese lovers dream. A little more crab and a little less cheese would be nice. French onion soup was delicious. Tastes home made. Lots of cheese and perfect flavor. Smoked salmon pasta was good. A little underwhelming in flavor. Salmon itself was great but found the rest very bland and flavorless.Prime rib was good a little tough though.

We visited this restaurant few days ago. The service was very good. We ordered my favourite pizza, with Arugula and prosciutto. The pizza was too salty and dry. The crust was chewy. Disappointing because we had this pizza before and really enjoy it. Also, by leaving the doors open, little flies were everywhere. I killed about 5 or 6, who were on my plate. I know it is difficult during the summer but this is a problem they should look at pest control. Thank you for your review, we're sorry to hear that your pizza did not meet your expectations - we hope you mentioned this to your server so we were able to resolve the situation at the time? And we're working hard to combat the flies! They popped up out of nowhere overnight and we've gained a lot of ground, but unfortunately this was not resolved on your visit. We hope to see you again soon.

I always enjoy coming to Little Grouse and was excited to try their new menu with some friends. We shared a few appetizers (meatballs, carpaccio, octopus, and 2 orders of burrata). The appetizers were all delicious but it was disappointing that there were only two small slices of bread to accompany the standard amount of cheese on the burrata dish. This ratio was way off and each additional piece of bread is $1. I know I am complaining about a dollar or two, but it seems ridiculous to charge a customer extra for something that was initially inadequately portioned on a $19 appetizer dish and literally would cost the restaurant cents to make. It just seemed petty to me that bread would cost so much extra when it is generally complimentary in any other restaurant. Especially when it was obvious that our bill would be quite high for the amount of food and wine we were already ordering. Two of us enjoyed different pasta dishes for our mains, which were delicious. The other 3 people ordered the risotto and it was average at best. The risotto was lacking flavour and was disappointingly bland for a restaurant that prides itself on Italian excellence. I have enjoyed their risotto in the past, but with the recent change in chefs, this recipe is definitely something that requires adjustment. Our service was great, but I felt embarrassed that I recommended this restaurant to my friends. I don't think I will go back anytime soon given this recent experience. There are many other great restaurants to choose from in Saskatoon with more reasonable prices that would meet my expectations for a special night out.
