Where to eat International food in Cheltenham: The Best Restaurants and Bars

June 25, 2020 Madelene Haan

Reviews on International food in Cheltenham, England, United Kingdom. Cheltenham was just your average, sleepy town until the discovery of a spring in 1716, after which it became Britain's most popular spa town. (Like Palm Springs without the casinos.) Local Cheltonians have a reputation for being wealthy and respectable, and a walk along the Promenade will give you a first-class view of their wonderful houses, shops and gardens. After taking in the waters at the Pittville Pump Room (great name for a spa), check out the Art Gallery and Museum to learn about the social history of Cheltenham.

Popped in for brunch and had avocados on toast with poached eggs and bacon and an iced latte.Avocado was delicious on the sourdough bread, sadly both poached eggs undercooked and temperatures of food luke warm. Beautiful decor and friendly team however with very comfortable seats and well situated on Regent Street.Thank you for taking time to review The Find and we appreciate your positive feedback. We are sorry to hear however that you weren't happy with your poached eggs. I am not sure if you mentioned this to a member of staff at the time but we would have been more than happy to have quickly addressed anything that you felt wasn't to our normal high standards. We hope that we will return soon so that we have the opportunity to make sure that everything is perfect next time!

The Old Courthouse

The Old Courthouse building was designed in a ‘Italianate style’ by the surveyor of County Courts, Thomas Charles Sorby and built between 1869 and 1871. We think it’s stunning and love that it still retains its courtroom, largely unaltered over the years.

Essentially a Wetherspoons, in a nicer setting. No one greeted us on arrival, which led us to wandering around both up and downstairs for our booked table. It was quite obvious to us that other customers were equally as confused after speaking to them - one couple telling us they had not seen any staff come upstairs. We found our table in the middle of the downstairs area, which was frankly more like a loud pub and not a finer dining restaurant, as the prices would imply. Food took a very long time to come out, with one dish on both the starter and main rounds coming after the rest of us were close to finishing. Two of us ordered the same main dish, however one arrived at the table as a kid's portion - we asked why and the manager quite bluntly stated that since it was ordered of the set menu, it is a smaller portion. We reiterated that the wording on both the set and main menu is exactly the same and this is unclear and his response was along the lines of 'yes, I see your point'. Even asking for mayonnaise took over 10 minutes, at which point we had nearly finished our meal. The food was okay but took so long to arrive we ran out of time for ordering desert. Overall a pretty underwhelming experience and I can not see myself returning.

The food was good but what stood out was the pleasant atmosphere and good service. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff - in particular Julia - added to our experience by being professional and efficient whilst being cheerful, funny, helpful and fun.

Visited on my son’s birthday as he fancied something different and it was a great choice. We ordered a lot of dishes including;goat curry, prawn & squid curry, chicken on bone curry, Tuna curry, devilled chicken, cheesy Colombo, ladies fingers, cashew nuts, Govt mallun and roti. All the dishes were skilfully prepared, bursting with flavour and spice, and all very different. It was like a wonderful banquet. The chef came out to explain some of the ingredients. Enjoyed the house IPA which was very good. For desert we had Drunken banana and coconut ice cream. A lovely finish to an excellent meal
