Top 10 Indian food in Cheltenham, England, United Kingdom

August 17, 2020 Giuseppe Pratt

Reviews on Indian food in Cheltenham, England, United Kingdom. Cheltenham was just your average, sleepy town until the discovery of a spring in 1716, after which it became Britain's most popular spa town. (Like Palm Springs without the casinos.) Local Cheltonians have a reputation for being wealthy and respectable, and a walk along the Promenade will give you a first-class view of their wonderful houses, shops and gardens. After taking in the waters at the Pittville Pump Room (great name for a spa), check out the Art Gallery and Museum to learn about the social history of Cheltenham.

Would never go anywhere else for a curry. The food is the best curry I have ever had, is always piping hot on delivery and always lots of it! The delivery time on a Saturday night is always prompt and bang on the waiting time that they give you when ordering. The staff are very friendly and always accommodating if you have any questions. Cannot fault the place.

If you're fond of Indian food then I would suggest you need to look no further in Cheltenham. We had a plate of mixed starters for sharing and this was ideal as I had already lunched that day and was not over hungry. For the same reason the main courses were perfectly adequate although anyone with a big appetite might disagree. Particularly enjoyed the sauces/chutney to accompany the pappadoms.

I have eaten here numerous times now with family, friends and business colleagues and have never been disappointed. The menu is superb with an excellent range of speciality dishes and well as some traditional favourites for the less adventurous. The restaurant is tastelfully decorated and the staff are courteous and helpful at all times. This is not your avarage Indian restaurant and warrants the slightly higher than avarage price you'll pay for the food. the restuarant is located a few miles out of Cheltenham and you'll ned to drive there or get a taxi but there is plenty of parking and its well worth the effort IMHO.

First visit since it’s been rebranded as Bhoomi Kitchen, and honestly apart from missing the white tablecloths and minor changes to the seating, I could not tell the difference Same fantastic food, maybe a few more choices and focus on Kerala food, same nice decor, and busy. Initially you might think portion sizes are a bit meagre, but they punch over their weight in deliciousness. The Chilli Chicken remains an all time favourite.Excellent and attentive staff, I’ll be back.

Another year, another visit to the Cheltenham literature festival, another outstanding meal at Prithvi. This has to be one of our most favourite restaurants-an Indian restaurant...that does not serve curry!!! This year we ate the 5 course tasting menu, priced at £59. Meat, fish, vegetables...every course a beautifully balanced blend of flavours, textures and spicing. Innovative, creative, a restaurant like no other... forced to choose we would eat here over Benares/Cinnamon Club/ Namaste Spice. Quite how it does not have a Michelin star is beyond me... though perhaps in terms of price and accessibility we should be pleased!

I have previously reviewed EIC and this was my third visit - interestingly following each visit my enthusiasm has waned slightly.I don’t really know why either. The place is very nice, service good, food good. But I left feeling underwhelmed - we had the taster menu - all very nice. But I didn’t come away thinking “I can’t wait to go back”.Maybe the menu needs amending a bit - it’s a higher end restaurant but feels like it’s mid-end. Perhaps the price needs to reflect the experience more?Anyway, I can’t put my finger on it really - it’s nice, but not great, and there are better restaurants in this same range.

We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed excellent service throughout the evening. Amuse bouches were a wonderful touch with such fantastic authentic tastes as pani puri. The vegan menu was extensive and contained lots of interesting dishes. All dishes were prepared to perfection and visits from the chef to ensure we were happy was such a nice offer. Definitely somewhere unique and special to enjoy an evening with friends.
