This is a traditional Japanese restaurant with a very relaxing and homey feel.
When we went into the restaurant, it was filled with locals.
They had an English menu, so we ordered their Special set which consisted of shabu shabu with fresh Nigatta pork and vegetables, mixed sashimi platter and mixed tempura. All the ingredients used were very fresh.
The thinly cut Nigatta pork cooked in the shabu shabu was very yummy and we ordered an extra serving of pork.
They had a nice selection of sake from Nigatta and other parts of Japan for us to choose from. Sake and shabu shabu is always a great pairing.
The servers were very helpful. Whenever help was needed, we pressed a bell on our table and they will come promptly.
The price of the food and sake was very reasonable.
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The weather outside was 0 degree Celcius and we were having hot soup and sake in a small Japanese town.

Great little recommendation from the friendly woman in the shooting gallery shop a couple of doors down. Two tatami rooms busy with families cooking udon nabe over table top gas cookers. We thought we might need a little too much instruction so ordered a couple of dishes from the pictures. Delicious agadashi tofu in a savoury soy broth, the Karage were tasty fried chicken drumsticks with side salad, salted fried ebi (prawns) in the shells that the kids loved getting stuck into. We also ordered a sashimi set (the 1st picture on menu), rice, tofu, fabulous salted trout that my 5 year old demolished, sashimi of course, salad with melon, outstanding miso soup and fresh green beans with mayo. 2 large beers, 5 full bellies, another great yuzawa experience for 6000 yen. Awesome.

We had lunch here on our last visit to Yuzawa and it was really good. Ninjintei is about 10 min walk from the station but it is well worth it. Good prices and very good crispy tonkatsu with various choises of sauce. Staff friendly. Highly recommended.

Was recommended by a friend to try this place. We had dinner after arriving at Echigo-Yuzawa station from Takayama. It is about 700 meters from Echigo-Yuzawa station.
We had mixed tempura, soba, rice and udon.
The Mitaka mushroom tempura was out of this world. The tempura prawns were large, juicy and delicious. The soba was the best that we had in Japan. One of us had sake which was very good.
Service was impeccable. When they gave one of us wrongly soba instead of udon they did the order again immediately. In addition we were 'compensated' with another 2 large prawn tempura.
The bill was 115,000yen for the 5 of us. Very reasonable especially with such large serving. We left satiated.

Among Japanese people, buckwheat noodles are very popular. Niigata style hegi-soba is something different from the ordinary Japanese buckwheat noodles when you produce. You can enjoy the Niigata style noodle here with tempura fries and Japanese sake wines. This restarurant is conveniently located just a few seconds walk distance from the Shinkansen Station. It is located in the station so you don't need an umbrella even it snows or rains.

Such a comfortable atmosphere, good service and convenient for the train. My cappaccino and baked cheesecake was small but very nice. The pizzas for the rest of the table were delicious.

This place is popular which means that you will have to wait to get seated as it is always crowded. I heard its popular even for the locals. I will recommend trying out the hegi soba which is a Niigata blend of soba and seaweed (funori). Adding a few orders of tempura with local sake will be a feast. And the price is affordable.

Little bit satiated eating Japanese food? Don’t worry, Japan is one of the most gourmet country in the world, and without doubt, there are many types of high quality restaurant in Echigo-Yuzawa city as well. MURANGOZZO-CAFE, an Italian restaurant inside Echigo-Yuzawa station, is one of the high quality and convenient restaurant in this city. Therefore, there are many snow country’s ingenuities, and at MURANGOZZO-CAFE, we make the best use of these ingenuities. By using these ingenuities efficiently, we believe that our customers can experience and discover more about this snow country. For example, our steaks are matured using KOUJI, a fermented rice which is very traditional and is a base of MISO, SOY-SAUCE and JAPANESE SAKE. Also, vegetables that grew up in these areas are very sweet and tasty. Especially root vegetables and mushrooms are fascinating. We are very confident with our food, but our wines are also excellent. It might be surprising for you to know that there are fine local wines in this snow country. You could say that this local winery, ECHIGO WINERY, is a winery that locates in one of the most heavily snowing area in the world, and they make a really high quality wines. Nicely decorated, fairly new restaurant in Echigo-Yuzawa station. Good service always, and i really like the spaghetti with garlic clam-sauce. Ordered that dish several times during our trip. They also had some kind of saké marinated beef last time wich was expensive but good. They have good cappuccino too. Recommended.
