If your spending a few days in Yangzhou and you like dumplings to any extent they you must pay the Fuchun teahouse a visit. It's an institution in Yangzhou and has the best dumplings I've ever had including my auntie's home made one (well just better!)
Get the combo deal where you get 6 or 7 types of dumplings for 25-30rmb plus tofu strands in sesame flavoured sauce.
Be prepared to share a table if it's busy such as on weekends.
Soak up the atmosphere and the soup filled dumplings (foreigners be careful). They give you a straw but don't poke it all the way thru.
By the way, it's a breakfast option but not brunch (closes by 10am or thereabouts). I got there at 8.30am which was just fine

Well based on year 1877 alone when business started, most people would have voted it with million likes. Just another fine example of persistent champion restaurant passes down thru generations.
I ordered most of their specialities, frankly they might not suit your taste buds. I rated their food 5.5/10 (subjective) & ambience 7/10 (yum cha or chinese early morning tea dim sum culture).

This is a very popular local Yangzhou restaurant. Its exceptional good for its size
and often used for wedding banquet or huge gathering. We found to be very interesting that all the orders were taken by the female waitresses and all the dishes were delivered by the fast walking young men to insure dishes are arrived nice and hot. We had their signature dishes- Meatball in Crab sauce, Shredded Dry bean curd,
and flavored duck comfit and sweet and sour pork. All dishes are delicious ,flavorful
and wonderful presentations. Our dinning hall will fit two hundred + and they have
four other halls on first floor. They must have a huge kitchen and staff but managed to deliver excellent services, great food and satisfied customers.

This is a delicious place to eat in Yangzhou and to sample traditional Yangzhou cuisine. Yangzhou is one of China's historic culinary capitals, and this restaurant maintains this great tradition, at very affordable prices. After our first meal here, we became regulars for remainder of our stay in Yangzhou. My Chinese is limited, so I was having trouble ordering, but the maitre d would come to my assistance and asked me what kind of foods I liked and then placed an order for me. The results were delicious, as they were each time we came back.

The Lu Family House when operates as Restaurants is indeed a very nice experience for someone who would like to taste Chinese Cuisine and especially the local dishes of Yangzhou / Jiangsu province. The restaurant is open 3 times per day but the best time to visit is early evening hours from 1730 to 2000. At that time it is lighted with red lanterns and apart from your dinner you can enjoy a nice short walk through the alleys and yards of this beautiful mansion. Indeed there are many halls where you can enjoy your dinner but it is a disadvantage that there are no tables outside in the yards where during summer time, it is much better. It was a family dinner and we all stayed satisfied by the quality of the food and the quantities of the dishes, nevertheless communication was a small problem since we did not speak Chinese. We preferred to taste some local dishes there, therefore we chose Yangzhou fried rice, Lion's Head (a big meatball in soup), smoked duck and a mainly vegetable soup ( San Yuan Da Za Hui). Apart from the duck that it was not that tasty and it was expensive the other dishes were really very good. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
