Shri Bhagwan Bahubali Digambar Jain Statue in Karkala, Udupi is one of the top tourist attraction in Karkala, Udupi. Udupi is notable for the Krishna Temple, Tulu Ashtamathas and lends its name to the popular Udupi cuisine. It is also known as Lord Parashurama Kshetra, and is famous for Kanakana Kindi. Probably one of the best eateries in Udupi. This place was really crowded at around 9:30PM. In a town like Udupi, being crowded at that hour should mean this is a hot-shot! They serve both North Indian and South Indian cuisine and only vegetarian btw. When they say the food is spicy, they REALLY mean it(beware). Do try their desserts, worth it.

I have been visiting this restaurant since childhood and this was one of the main attractions for us whenever we were in Udupi. Their ice creams are very famous especially the iconic Diana Gudbud. Recently I visited this restaurant after a long time and was disappointed with the quality of food served. First we had roti-curry which was strictly average/below average. Then we ordered Gudbud which was nowhere extraordinary. I so very much wanted to love this place again but its a pity that this restaurant is no longer the iconic place it was once upon a time. I am sure now there are better restaurants in Udupi which offer better food, better ice creams with better ambiance.

The waiters lack serving experience with poor communication skills. The ambience and theme of the restaurant stands out. Hygiene standards are not well maintained as the washing area was quite dirty with flies around the foodstuff kept in the open.Better restaurants with Indian seafood cuisine can be found around Udupi.

This joint was one of the best one in Udupi since decades. I used to visit this place since
1972. But on this occasion I could not get the flavour of past. Nothing special to boast about Mitra Samaj anymore. Perhaps the traditional Goli Baje may be good but it was not available during breakfast and I was told that it is served only in the evenings.

After visiting Udipi Shri Krishna Mutt, I have landed at Shanti Sagar veg restaurant along with my family members for lunch but somehow didn't enjoy the food although price was reasonable. However place was crowded with customer and.it seems Udupi does not have much choice when it comes to vegetarian restaurant.

coffee valley has unique ambiance. the Seating is in the open ground with sheds over each table. They have provided lights and fans in each shed. Its a comfortable place where one can enjoy the fresh breeze. The food is delicious. However, slightly overpriced. They even serve pastries, cakes, mocktails etc.

This is A C restaurant located very close to Krishna Temple, in the bye lane of Admar Mutt. The restaurant is neat and clean. It is in the basement.
The quality of food is very good. rates are reasonable. North Indian and south Indian meals are available. Quick service. During peak hours there is huge crowd and may have to wait for few minutes.
Snacks are delicious and rates are quite reasonable.

Albeit the prices are a tad on the higher side, the assortment of sea food is brilliant. If Mangalore style spicy cuisine is your thing, this is the place to go.
We ordered fish curry, prawns masala, seer fish tawa fry and pomfret tawa fry along with butter chicken and rotis and veg Biryani and everything was delectable.
Be mindful of the portion sizes though. They are massive!!!
The staff was attentive and the ambience was good.
Highly recommended!

As my title states the food is quite cheap but the biggest con is that the menu is small, the range of food items to select from is a low point for this cafe.
Nevertheless you'll enjoy the burger combos as they come with a free softdrink and fries.
Overall i would recommend budget travellers and Manipal students to try the place.
