Where to Eat in Tigre: The Best Restaurants and Bars

September 8, 2017 Yuk Petri

Day-trip distance from Buenos Aires, the Tigre River Delta offers porteños (Buenos Aires residents) and tourists alike a playground for everything from horseback riding and hiking to fishing and swimming. Comprised of hundreds of tiny islands, the Tigre is about 20 miles northeast of Buenos Aires and is reachable from the city by trains, then by boat from the train station. While the main attraction here is the delta itself (formed where five rivers come together), you’ll also find a Naval Museum, restaurants and playgrounds for kids. Several tour companies offer day-trip excursions to the Tigre River Delta—but visitors also can book stays in area bed & breakfasts and adventure lodges.

There are two parts to my review. The ambience, location and journey by ferry to the restaurants are 4 star. The food and service are substandard, I rate it 1 star. I had Portugese Chicken which was obviously reheated from the previous day, it was dry and not very warm. I could not return it as the service is slow and I had a return ferry to catch. The steaks looked better but I saw some locals return those as well. Finally, the waiter failed to bring the change and I had to hop on the ferry.
If I was was to go back, I'd eat before or after the journey and just enjoy the grounds or have an appetizer. Try Il Novo Maria de Lujan in Tigre, for the same money you will enjoy a meal that is memorable for all the right reasons.

I went to have lunch to Maria Lujan a week ago with my husband and we have a greater timer than our last time years ago.
The place is very nicely decorated, staff is attentive.
It was one of the hottest days in December and we decided to have lunch inside.
It has three more rooms and a huge Terrace looking the Lujan River.
A young waiter came to us and answered all our questions about the menu.
We started with the "Chorizo a la King" which I can swear it's made from scratch and it's so delicious but not so greasy.
For the main dish, my husband chose the spinach ravioli over sauce a la panna (creamy parmesan) and I chose the Caesar Salad.
Fresh and great choice for lettuce (Butter Boston instead or Romaine), great garlic-y croutons.
Great place. I will come back!

Well located and the easy access if you live in Nordelta or surroundings, this place offers good pizza. My recommendation is Fugazzeta de queso y cebolla, very traditional from Buenos Aires. It is a stuffed cheese pizza covered with onions. Service is friendly in a warm environment.

We visited the buffet wanting a nice meal but a big feed after a long day and were thoroughly satisfied. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and plenty of Seating - it was evidently popular as there was a queue to get in! We paid 95 pessos for all you can eat and thought it was great value considering the quality of the food and the variety. There was a wide selection of cold starters and salads; there were several main dishes and a parrilla where you could choose freshly cooked cuts of meat off the grill; dessert was impressive and you could have crepes cooked to order, as well as ice cream sundaes. Definitely worth a visit if you are hungry and the casino is huge so you can pass a few hours in there too before or after!

During December I hired the boat for a group of my friends as a leaving party who'd all met on exchange in Buenos Aires. We gathered in Palermo and hired a bus to take us to La Marina Neptuno. We enjoyed a great boozy day on the delta, with great weather, music and great company. Our captain Ricardo was very helpful in making sure all of us were looked after, I would definitely book with Ricardo again given the opportunity.
