When we visited the cafe during our stay in the hotel in May 2017, the Cafe was closed. The staff told that the Chef was on leave due to which the restaurant was closed. But, there was spider web in the sitting area which gave the impression that it was closed for a long time.

Our Place is alive and well in Kumily. But it has moved to a better, more convenient location. If you want to find it now then head for Lake Road and the Park Gates from Ambadi Junction. After a short walk you should be able to spot the Coffee Inn on the right hand side. Keep walking a few meters and you will see the next building on the left is the new home for OurPlace. The new restaurant will be more spacious and with a few extra tables. This should be very welcome news for all of the many visitors who appreciated the special service offered by Shailee and David. Much as we love Indian food, one always misses the cooking of Europe. One smell or taste of David's bread will have you back in Europe for an instant. Not that you want to go back but simply that the taste bud's feel young again. The food is a touch of home and can vary from day to day, Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all catered for. David and Shailee say that they are opening from 9 am to 10 pm so there should be plenty of opportunities to sample their menu and enjoy the conversation So if Our Place could be better then it is. So here's to the old Our Place and the wonderful memories it left and here's to the new Our Place and the future. <br><br>Please note as we have a small and friendly team,it is always advisable to book for a party of Six or more, to avoid too long waiting times. we are closed for between 3 and 7.00

The cafe is very comfortable and easy. Lots of options on the menu. If you've been in India a while and just fancy something that resembles a little closer to home then this may be the place for you. The staff are friendly. You are given the wifi password as soon as you come in. Coffee is good. No push to leave as soon as you've finished.
Very reasonable prices.

We had a fun evening learning how to cook authentic Indian food with Mr Sheril and his family. We were invited into his home where he entertained us with this cooking skills but also got everyone to join in and help with the preparation and cooking. It was fun and relaxed whilst being very informative, plus of course at the end of the evening we got to eat a very enjoyable meal.
If Indian food interests you then book yourself a seat at the table. You will not be diappointed.

Not sure why it is called the French Restaurant because it has no French influence whatsoever but we have just had a lovely breakfast of muesli, banana pancake and coffee.
The muesli was fantastic - packed full of fresh fruit and the coffee was amongst the best we have had in Kerala (although that is not saying much!)

We went there for breakfast and had an assortment of items but the best was their vegetable sandwiches. I had two! :) The ambiance resembles an old castle. Nice place for breakfast. Reasonable prices too. Check it out!

They have very good tandoori oven!
So the grilled fish and fish tikka are amazingly fresh coming out smoky from the grill. Really delicious. The cashew and garlic naan also amazing and the fruit juice is fresh juice. They get it when you say "no spicy" or "no sugar" so we finally could enjoy many indian dishes not spicy. Would love to go again!

Checked 'Restaurants near me' online, and Ambadi Restaurant came up, with 4 stars. Walking distance from our hotel, decided to give it a try. Turned out to be a real good choice. The restaurant interiors are really well set up, attractively furnished. Good, prompt service, and great food! The prices are reasonable and is another positive on overall experience. 4 stars !

We reached at 4PM so probably thats why they had limited options to offer only masala dosa. Food quality was just ok. Service was horrible. I had to go to their kitchen multiple times to request people to serve us. Surely cannot recommnend anybody.

We had friends who had wonderful food here one night, then average another night. We had dinner here one night and the pasta was very good, but the lasagne was average. Our friends told us their lasagne was delicious one night then average the next.
So it's a mixed bag. We finally decided there was probably a cooking staff issue, with some cooks better than others. This is unfortunate, as otherwise I would have given it four stars.
The biggest drawback for us was a wait of an hour for our food. Luckily, we were not going anywhere, so we waited patiently. The atmosphere is pleasant and the elevation offers a good 'green' view. But the slowness of service was really not acceptable.
