The Corner Bistro is a family run restaurant situated in the west coast region of Mautius. A quaint setting overlooking the Mountains of the Black River Gorges, lies our bistro style restaurant . Run by owners Chris and Lee Lazare, who strive to make your every experience a 'delight'. Specializing in using mostly local produce, we serve the freshest fish, crayfish and live crab. We import the best quality meat and duck to ensure the most sumptuous meals. We offer a variety of daily seasonal specials, good salads, quality homemade burgers to keep you coming back. Afternoons are a must as we offer the best waffles, ice cream and pancakes along with our superb "illy" coffee. We hold event evenings every month, communicated via our Facebook page, word of mouth and text messages. We offer a large play area for kids in our back garden, where we also offer fantastic kid's parties. We also cater in other functions such as at home dinner parties, picnics, birthday parties, year end functions and corporate functions. We also have incorporated a "take away menu" which has grown in popularity especially for offices in and around black river. Last but not least we are Also a WIFI hub... Our bistro is definitely a meeting point!!!!

Dined several times here under the previous ownership and went back last week only to find it had changed hands in December 2014 with a complete change of menu. The venue is now called the Frenchie Cafe (see website). Therefore suggest you ignore previous reports. The venue has changed with a larger covered outdoor Seating area and a much larger bar. Menu quite extensive and they offer a wife range of cocktails. We had the 7 tapas dishes between three of us together with a dessert each which was about the right quantity for a lunch. Quality of the tapas dishes was only OK, desserts were better. Prices appear cheaper than previously. Will visit again for the main courses and will post a review in due course. Quite busy and hope it does well.

3 times in last week we ate at Bay Hotel . Food reasonably priced and extremely tasty .
The staff are lovely and really helpful . You need to book as it really is , as one of the staff said , very busy . “ Every day is Sunday here “ !
Very well situated , right on a nice little beach .
Swimming pool reserved for hotel guests , quite fair IMHO , but plenty of places to relax .
Lovely place to stay , or to pass the day . Well done Bay Hotel !

The menu has changed for value for money tasty meals with the new owner who is professional and friendly. The ‘cheese spread’ better was very nice and it was definitely pleasant to have homemade wedges. The salad dressing was nicely made. Would be nice to have the option of ‘baguette à l’ancienne’ bread for the sandwiches.
The outside area is very fresh next to the bamboo trees.
An additional staff would be appreciated for a more efficient service.

Nice to see that they are full since moved to Trianon but it seems they are not able yet to cope.
Slow service and errors in the orders, instead of coming to you to apologize and explain they argue between them to determine whose fault it is… More training needed.
They can also surely find a more professional way to announce that the orders are ready instead of shouting throughout the restaurant…

Fabulous food and excellent service. We have fond memories of our nights at Ocean One. After a glorious evening and a few delicious cocktails we would walk on the beach to end of the evening. This is how awesome memories are made.

We stayed in Fic en Flac in December near the beach, and I am in love with Roti aka Vinoda. There are various snack joints selling roti, but these guys made it fresh right there, and it was simple but heavenly!
Since the small place is now getting popular, there is a huge line around lunch time. We used to visit it early in the morning or in the evening when the line was smaller. And did I say how cheap it was?
recommendation: Order more than one. You will want to eat more and then there will be a line again.

Super food prepared by the owners. Brandon regularly visits the tables to advise on the menu. The house specialty steak is superb. Try chocolate Fountain or creme brulee for desert. The waiters are great but too few for a busy evening. This is not a franchise, do not expect to be in and out in 45 min. Go and relax at the bar with a few great cocktails prepared by the owner and order your food. Move to your table when ready. Live music some evenings (eg Wed etc). Watch their Facebook page for events and happy hour times.

Restaurant Bar Tapas located in a very nice Bali type garden at the rear of the Tutti Frutti Building in La Mivoie, Black River. Cosy atmosphere where you can sip a drink at the bar near the swimming pool and eat delicious meals prepared with fresh daily products.

I took out our friends for a meal and found this extraordinary Hidden garden which not only had excellent dishes and Deserts all homemade but a large selection of great wines from France and worldwide. The staff is friendly and efficient the owners Swiss they are on the high road!!!
