The Anaconda located on the La Yarinacocha River offers the experience of eating on its floating dock. The food was traditional Peruvian and was okay, but eating in this environment was incredible! The food was VERY reasonable considering the location. A definite must for anyone who finds themselves in the Pucallpa area!

Growing up in Pucallpa, this is a place my family has been going to ever since I can remember. They have really made their business into something great! The staff is friendly and helpful and the service is clean and fast. Plus it's right in the heart of town so after ice cream, take a stroll through the center!

A little And simple restaurant on a street corner, but with delicious food! I had the chonta salad which was excelent, very tender, then the paiche fish with tacacho (banana ball with meat), the fish was very fresh and tasty and the tacacho the best i have had so far, finally i asked for an order or "maduro", OMG how can simple be so good. Ripe bananas cooked to perfection, really delicious. To drink i had the cocona juice, seems to be a local favorite because every table was drinking the same, very nice as well

There are quite a few choices for chifa in Pucallpa, but Chifa Dragon de Oro is my top pick. The wontons are made differently than in the States and I prefer the way they make them. They are excellent! Everything I have tried has been perfect. Good atmosphere and great food!

This is a mom & pop restaurant. No fancy atmosphere but clean. I haven't been at night (when I thing is the time when the pizza part kicks in). But for lunch is a good option. Daily options (called 'menu' , in Peru) can be found written on a blackboard. This 'menu' is comprised by an appetizer (usually there are two or three options to choose from, soup can make this category) and an entrée (usually three or four options). Most of them are Peruvian cuisine. Among the options you could find beef, chicken, Freshwater fish, a a creole recipe. Portions are not big but sufficient. Included is a refreshment which I suggest you skip, may need made with boiled water but there's no guarantee of that. Go early.

Since I lived 30 years in Wisconsin, I am particular about ice cream. Stefano's is the best in the city, all homemade and a variety of flavors. Served by the scoop or bowl, also milkshakes. Local fruit flavors, try the lucuma and/or camu camu. Or, if you prefer, chocolate, mint or the specialty, stefano.

Costa Del Ucayali

Reviewed By Steve G - Lima, Peru

We arrived here courtesy of Juan, who took me and my wife on a tour of Yarinacocha. The place has a swimming pool, bungalows and an outdoor restaurant which is what we came for. While the menu is not vast, it does provide visitors with a fine sample of Amazonian delights. We chose the half platter of 4 deep fried meats: cecina, venado, paiche and sajino. For S/50 one gets almost more than you can eat, with salad and patacones besides. The salad includes chonta, the shredded palm used in salads in the jungle. If one is truly adventurous, one can try suri, the fat worms which are a delicacy in the jungle areas of Peru. I wish I had had a little more courage to try it. As it was, my wife and I left the restaurant quite satisfied. There is a clean pool and a little pool where one can see paiches. Unfortunately, the water was rather murky. A warning: don't wear high heels when visiting this restaurant or others like La Jungla--you have to use a somewhat rickety boardwalk to get to the land when the water is low. We wore crocs, which were fine.
