Room with a View

Room with A View, Seafood Restaurant situated within the Forth View Hotel in the coastal village Aberdour, Fife. Enjoy succulent scallops, wholesome halibut & Fresh Langoustines and many more delicious seasonal seafood dishes cooked to exquisite perfection. Whilst also enjoying the small but special menu you can enjoy the spectacular views of Edinburgh and the river Forth whilst listening to local Classical Guitar player Nick Rees on the sound system (who also plays live on occasion). Every seat offers a view of Edinburgh or Aberdour Harbour or climbers on the Hawkcraig Cliffs. On a sunny day it is nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the garden area or eat Al fresco

Often great views from a restaurant equates to overpriced, poor quality food. This definitely is NOT the case with Room with a View. Location is spectacular with panoramic vistas looking over the bay to Aberdour, the Forth Rail Bridge and stretching over to Arthur’s Seat and beyond in Edinburgh.
The restaurant itself is small, only 8 or so tables tucked into a little dining room simply but neatly decorated in the Forth View Hotel. The building is down a steep track from the Silver Sands car park, either walk (no heals/posh shoes) or take the restaurant up on the offer of a lift.
The menu is small and well thought out, not too fancy but still with some innovation. Service was attentive without being overbearing.
Food, primarily seafood as you’d expect, was very well prepared and presented. Tasting plates are on offer for starters and desserts which offer a good chance to try a variety of dishes. Mains were also very well prepared with some interesting flavours and texture combos.
The wine list looks interesting, although unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to try many of them out.
We had lunch for three people - 3 courses with a glass of wine each all for just over £100 - very good value for money too.
Highly recommended.

Samphire Seafood Bar & Grill at Orocco Pier

Reviewed By xxme - West Lothian, United Kingdom

Orocco Pier on the High street of South Queensferry consists of the Antigo cafe bar and the Samphire sea food and char-grilled steaks restaurant. Both places open almost all day are nicely and modern decorated offering stunning views to the Bridges through their glass lined back walls. Having been many times to the Antigo for breakfast, snacks and drinks, for a special birthday night we booked a table for 8 at the Samphire next door. After a couple of drinks at the bar we were shown to our huge round table with the astonishing views to the rail bridge. The menu is quite small making the choices easy and the wine list covers all different tastes of wine. The food was freshly cooked, very tasty and excellent presented in posh big plates. Highly recommended the warm black pudding with smoked pancetta and baby new potato salad starter, the chicken and duck main courses, the pan seared scallops served with caramelised apples and their steaks. Desserts are out of this world too. The service was nice, friendly and attentive by a young waitress, although was her first night on duty. It was an unforgettable night. The only fault I would say is that the music is not combined with the posh style of the restaurant.

The Wee Restaurant

We had our St Valentine's Day lunch here, our third visit to what is now our favourite restaurant and it was a good as ever.
The three course set lunch was a very reasonable £20 plus wine and offered amongst other things French onion soup, grilled chicken supreme on a bed of truffle flavoured risotto and cheese or sticky toffee pudding, all of which were absolutely delicious. I forgot to mention the home baked sourdough bread and butter with home made tapenade, but that too was excellent. The tapenade is also available as a take away in a small kilner jar and well worth the £5.
An excellent, friendly little restaurant where you are guaranteed satisfaction every time. Parking can be a bit problematic in the height of summer although there is a large car park under the rail bridge a few hundred yards away.
Highly recommended!

Very nice ambience right on the riverbank with great views of the bridge at night. Very pleasant staff. A slightly limited but excellent menu. Very reasonably priced and given the numbers dining it would seem to be very popular with visitors and locals alike.

I’d recommend the chana puri to start and the garlic chilli tender lamb. Mmmmmmm.
Great food, really nice staff, highly recommend

Have used this restaurant many time for lunch with foreign business partners, as the location is right beneath the Forth Bridge and the views are we fabulous. The bistro is great for both adults and kids and I especially like eating in the galleries upstairs, which also serves as an exhibition area and is detailed with a complete history of the bridge's construction. Food is always good as is service and staff very good - get in early, as it can be very busy, especially in the busy tourist months - definitely recommended.

Popped in here on a Sunday morning for a coffee and cake on a freezing cold day. Good choice of coffee and cake but there were others eating full cooked breakfasts which looked delicious. This restaurant has lovely views out over the sea and of the Forth Bridges. The hot chocolate with marsh mallows and cookies was fab as was husbands coffee.

Ferrybridge Hotel

Located in North Queensferry near Edinburgh underneath the Bridges.

Reviewed By Andrew V - Edinburgh, United Kingdom

When entering the Hotel bar for something to eat the fact that there was onlky one other couple there was of no surprise given the rather gloomy dark green interior, and certainly the loud rock music transmitted through poor speakers did not create the ideal ambience for a pleasurable experience. On ordering from a basic menu I decided to risk sausages, mash and onion gravy. The sausages were cooked on just the one side with the underneath quite raw. The mash was acceptable but the gravy, despite being advertised as 'onion gravy' was devoid of any semblance of an onion and consequently as tastless as the sausages.
