Midyat (Kurdish: Midyad, Syriac: ܡܕܝܕ Mëḏyaḏ or Miḏyôyo in the local Turoyo dialect, Arabic: مديات) is a town in Mardin Province of Turkey. The ancient city is the center of a centuries-old Hurrian/Hurrian town in Southeast-Turkey, widely familiar under its Syriac name Tur Abdin. A cognate of the name Midyat is first encountered in an inscription of the Assyrian king Ashur-nasir-pal II (883-859 B.C.). This royal text depicts how his forces conquered the city and the surrounding villages. In its long history the city of Midyat has been ruled by various different leaders and nations.

Wandering around eski Midyat (the old part) a night after a long trip we (a group of four) bumped into this pretty little karavanserai. It houses a café cum restaurant, run by Veli Günes. He showed us around and explained how it took about ten years to restore the run down buildings. We choose some local specialities, mezes and I took the grilled liver cubs and an egg plant dish. Since our host wanted us to taste more, he offered us some additional mezes and a glass of Süryani wine. The food was delicious. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to my most picky culinair friends!

Tur ile gittiğim GAP turunda rehberin bizi götürmesi sayesinde gittiğim mekan. Ben gittiğimde Midyat tabağı denilen, içinde yöresel yemeklerin olduğu bir tabak istedim. Ayrıca diğer kebap çeşitleri de var. Sanırım Midyat'da yemek yenilebilecek bir kaç yerden biri. Normal geldi bana her şey, öyle olağan üstü lezzet ya da çok diyeceğim bir durum ya da tat ile karşılaşmadım. Yolunuz düşerse deneyin derim.

Çok kötüüü servis kötü sanki garsonlar köle gibi çalıştırılıyor o yüzden hiç güler yüz ve titizlik yok üstelik yemekler çok yağlı. Yağlı oluncada tadı çok köyü oluyor hiç tavsiye etmem

Künefe denince aklınıza Hatay geliyor olabilir ancak tatlı sevmeyenlerin bile künefe yemeye gittiği bir mekan Sadık Künefe. Fiyatları Midyat lokasyonuna ve civardaki diğer künefecilere göre pahalı olsa da bir kereye mahsus denenmesi gereken bir lezzet. Ayrıca Su ve Çay ikram olarak verilmektedir.

I had not heard before from Syriac Cuisine. But I came across while visiting Midyat with my family and we decided try. First of all they were very friendly and had a very clean place.
When you order the food they prepare it very nicely right in front of your eyes. Because you can’t imagine how in most places in Turkey they prepare your food…
Especially stuffed meatballs and ayran were delicious.
Finally we gave a try to Suryani Coffee. The smell and the aroma of the coffee have enchanted us. So we decided to return to our home with suryani coffee.
As a result, its perfect for foreigners with families. Its comfortable, delicious and an affordable café.

Midyat Çağ Lokantası,işletmecisinden çalışanına hepsi çok temiz ve iyi insanlar. Midyatdaki en leziz yemekleri burda bulabilirsiniz.Ben midyatta öğretmen iken haftada en az 3 kez giderdim. Kavurması harikadır yine çağ şişinide denemenizi tavsiye ederim.

İç içe küçük dükkanlardan oluşan avluda kafe hizmeti olan bir yer. avluya girerken girşteki avizesi muhteşemdi. birde küçük atmacası vardı . bizim çocuklar baya oyalandılar onunla. fiyatları makul. gezinize dahil edebilirsiniz pişman olmazsınız.
