Where to Eat in Limerick: The Best Restaurants and Bars

December 27, 2017 Margarita Chappel

There once was an Irish city… You might think "naughty poem" when you hear the word Limerick, but in truth the city inspires so much more than just knowing giggles. Medieval castles and churches give the city a grand feel, while the pubs crawl with lively locals and students who are all craving just one more pint of Guinness. The Hunt Museum boasts a collection of pieces from history's most important and influential artists, while the Foynes Flying Boat Museum will marvel visitors of all ages with its whimsical flying machines.

We arrived early on a Tuesday evening for a meal on a cold sharp winded night.
We were the 1st in so greeted by all of the staff on arrival, and shown to an upstairs table ( table 10 I think).
We were seated by a guy I believe his name might have been Matthew who proceeded to be helpful throughout on ordering, patience and with a great manner.
I ordered the fish cakes to start with a sauce and light salad, and delicious with an excellent taste. I then ordered the burger and chips with a side of onion rings and again a top meal.
We had a couple of coffees while the place filled up and the atmosphere was encouraging.
I have been before and have no doubt I will return and the ideal place to relax in a warm upstairs converted, and what looks like an original barn. I meant to ask the lady on leaving about the history of the place but she was busy.
Highly Reccomended and an easy 5 Circles.

Came in due to the great reviews on trip advisor and we're more than pleased that we did. Denise was friendly from the get go and recommended many different entrees. I went with the scampi, two others with fish and chips, and my son with the monster burger. I have never had scampi, prawns, so good! The breading was delicious. The side salad had a dressing that was so good my son even ate his salad. Denise took it a step further buy giving advice on where to tour around and what to expect for St. Patrick's day. A true treasure on our journey. Thank you!!

My partner and I had dinner for his birthday. Restaurant was quiet as it was a midweek night. The food was glorious, all three courses were extremely satisfying and portion sizes just right. Can especially recommend the pork belly, braised beef and the sticky toffee pudding. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was very pleasing. We had our choice of tables so we sat next to the window, it's nice to look out on the quay while you dine.

My boyfriend and I, dined at this restaurant for Valentines, now bare in mind that we went the day before because we can't handle the cringe. We were seated by the window but the room was absolutely freezing, now I presume as restaurant was extremely quiet the heating wasn't as efficient. We were offered to move seats so its our own fault for moving, but the heating wasn't increased either. Now on to the food, which I can safely say was delicious! I got the paté and the braised beef for main, followed by chocolate mousse dessert. There was a set 3 course meal for 29.95€ which was fine, but we both felt the dessert menu needs to have a wider range. Staff were fab!

The fire added to the cosy atmosphere.
The food was plentiful and fairly priced. I had roast beef which was delicious and exceptionally good value compared to other eateries in the area.
I will definitely visit The Locke again when in Limerick to enjoy the evening ambience.
