Restaurant is on a side street off the center of the city, only a couple of minutes of walk. Small place. We had the daily "menü" (prix fixe weekday special lunch ). Food was good, but could have definitely had less salt. Service was quick.

We visited this place during our holiday nearby twice. We found this place on TA and was recommended. The place is in a nice area amongst wine yards with beautiful view. The tables are under grape leafs which is nice during summer. You cannot drive straight to the place you have to leave car at the and of the road, but it takes 2 minutes to walk there.
There is a small playground for children to use while waiting for the meal. There are many options on the menu.
We took deer steak, fish and breaded chicken for the kids. The house lemonade was very good for kids. The deer stake was also very good the first time. Very soft and tasty. The sauce with mushrooms in it was also marvellous. I loved it. The second day we had the same deer, but that time it was not so soft, still ok. The fish was also good, my wife liked it. We had also a soup for kids but it wasn't any special. What we did not like was, that we had to wait a lot for the food. The place was not full so did not understand why it took over 40 mins to get food the first time. Secondly it was fairly ok. The portions are average size and prices are average compared to other places. Overall we liked the place so it is a 4 for us.

We were there on a family trip, and everybody from our rather picky family found something that they were happy with. That included gluten free, healthy, and traditional Hungarian food. The location was nice, too, despite the hot weather. The service was friendly, and there was even a cat! Would go back next time for sure!

Especially for breakfast, coffee breaks, desserts and more.
I love to sit in this elegant and cozy café and drink my Viennese melange with honey, accompanied by an orange or peach juice and a warmed roastbeef Sandwich.
The service staff is congenial.
Definitely I will return.

The restaurant looks lovely & has a good atmosphere with live music.
However we were quite disappointed with our experience.
My red wine tasted like vinegar! There's only one type of red wine to choose from. Trying to make the waiter understand that it was 'corked' was difficult. In the end I just had a lemonade.
My meal of goulash was really good but my husband & daughter were disappointed with their food.
We won't go back as there are plenty of other restaurants in this area that serve better food & wine at cheaper prices.

This is a well known local restaurant in this region, I personally have been there many times with lots of visitors. Your meal is served by very friendly waiters who speak all International languages.
The Menu is mainly based on fish, but you have a very wide choice of dishes. Your meal is 'accompanied' by a gypsy orchestra, making for a wonderful experience. It is also complimented by a wonderful view over the lake.
One small tip (from a local) if you are having a meal in the evening (particularly at dusk), I suggest you have you meal inside, as the mosquito's bite at Balaton can be quite viscous!!

On a campsite but apart. Outside tables with oil lamps. Friendly staff--seemed to be a family concern. Beautiful freshly cooked lake fish. (speciality).Inside restaurant seemed to have acres of hungarian lace. Good for kids as they can go off and paly in the swing park.

Tompos

Reviewed By ViatorCastellum - Sweden

We have revisited the Tompos restaurant, which is located in the outskirts of Keszthely, in a nice residential area. A lot of flowers around, fresh air, no noise, you can sit both inside and outside and enjoys the dishes, which are of good quality. The service was also very good and the prices reasonable.
Strengths: a) Year after year we visit this restaurant and we a glad to report that the quality is kept high; b) Paleo and normal daily menu are available at lunchtime, with good quality, proper variation and realistic prices.
Weaknesses: Limited or no availability of simple, but very tasty Hungarian dishes, such as “fözelék” and “lecsó”.
Recommendation: Include such simple dishes, on reasonable prices.
In summary: Highly recommended.

We decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of the Pensione we were staying at. The menu provided a good selection and was translated in both English and German. The staff also spoke English. All of our meals were very tasty and the staff was nice. At the end of the meal they provided a complimentary shot of Hungarian Grappa, a nice surprise! There is a nice Seating area outside. If you are traveling with young children there is a children's menu as well as a small playground. We would definitely recommend a meal here.

Heard about this restaurant, were visiting the town, decided to eat here. Little out of the way from most attractions, we had GPS so it made it much easier to find. Nice outdoor covered patio, comfortable, very nice and very attentive staff, ( was not very busy). The food was very good overall, I would eat here again.
