Brønnøysund (Urban East Norwegian pronunciation: [²brønːøyˌsʉn] ( listen)) is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Brønnøy, Norway. It is also a former municipality in Nordland county. The village of Brønnøysund received town status in 2000. The city lies along the coast and is often called "the coastal town in the middle of Norway." Brønnøysund is also the regional center of Southern Helgeland. The 3.25-square-kilometre (800-acre) town has a population (2013) of 4,924; giving the town a population density of 1,515 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,920/sq mi).

Went to the oldest cafe in Brønnøysund to have birthday cake. The "Kvæfjord cake" was very good and the surroundings is a nice, typical Norwegian cafe that luckily not has been turned into a coffee-bar.

I visited here with a large conference group from Trondheim. We had 7(!) courses and the quality of both presentation and taste never dipped below "great". The quality of the ingredients were excellent all the way through. Service was good and the place is spectacular and delightfully unexpected. This is rural tourist Norway at its best.
Do NOT stop at "Kysten rundt" or the local Petrol Station, use your money here instead!

Grabbed something quick to eat while Hurtigruten docked for a short time. This is the only place where we had time to purchase anything, and our credit card number (not the card itself) was stolen and used for thousands of dollars of purchases immediately that day. Fortunately credit card company discovered it and only one day of damage. Use cash here.

Brønnøysund is not what you would call a gourmet city. Asking the hotel reception, we got the advice to go to the Milano Pizza & Kebab. We went with mixed feelings, but what a surprise! Service was friendly and excellent. The menu and the dishes surprisingly delicious. We chose some meat variants and were very happy. Then we saw the giant pizzas coming to the table besides. My god, if I only could have eaten more... Will be next time crossing this place.

Etter en lengre reise ankommer jeg restauranten for å spise middag. Dette er en liten kystby, så jeg forventer mye god, fersk fisk på menyen. Men nei. Kun 3 retter og ingen som signaliserer lokal villfanget fisk. Tar en porsjon fiskesuppe til forrett. Får brød til. Suppen smaker greit, men innholdet allermest grovt oppdelte gulerøttbiter av forskjellig størrelse, de største er langt fra al dente. Ellers innholdet suppen 2 reker og 2 laksebiter. Skuffende. Hovedretten er restaurantens signaturrett - grillet tørrfisk. Flott komposisjon. Flott garnityr. Men fisken er IKKE grillet. Pent kokt, ja, men helt ut stekeskorpe. Til tross for dette smakte det bra etter at jeg saltet fisken på tallerkenen. Alt i alt en relativt skuffende opplevelse.
Det burde være mulig å få noe annet, ferskt på menyen.

Cygan ligger langs kaikanten i Brønnøysund sentrum og her serveres god hjemmelaget norsk tradisjonsmat av bade kjøtt og fisk. Fersk sei og torsk er fast pa var meny. Pa søndager har vi buffe. I den ærverdige brygga holder Cygan til. Et koselig sted i havna i Brønnøysund hvor du kan sitte pa uterestauranten og nyte et godt maltid. Her har du god utsikt over bade sjølivet og bylivet.
