A lovely early evening meal at this great restaurant. Had a mix platter starter which was delicious, followed by a couple of main courses (shredded beef and chicken and cashew nuts) with special chow mein. Washed down with a bottle of Chinese beer. The atmosphere was good, and there was a constant stream of take away orders being served. A lovely evening.

Four of us visiting for a birthday celebration. Haven't been here for quite some time and didn't know what to expect. That worry was totally unfounded. From being greeted as we walked in, we went straight to our table and after ordering drinks set about the menu.The drinks came quickly as did the waiter taking our order. The food arrived quickly but not so fast as making us feel rushed. The sardines were lovely. My friend had the scallops which he complimented. For mains, two had Dover sole and 2 had veal from the specials menu. All of which were fabulous. All round, the service, food and ambiance made for a memorable evening. A gem of a restaurant which I have overlooked for too long. We shall be back.

Please ignore the negative comments below -- the pub is under new management and has been refurbished! We are placed in the heart of Essex with an idyllic countryside atmosphere. We have a large beer garden, welcome children and dogs, and everything is new and exciting. Please celebrate with us and pop in for a pint -- we have an array of different lagers and local ales. The kitchen is currently under refurbishment so traditional country pub grub is soon to follow -- looking forward to seeing you all. **%OPENING Day 31ST JULY**

Very friendly atmosphere. Great service and the Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic. Beef and pork ordered accompanied by an extensive range of wonderful vegetables. Cooked to perfection. Landlord, landlady are locals too and very welcoming. This is a hidden treasure, book early.Thank you so much for your lovely review. If you want a classic British pub with good food and proper beers with splendid no nonsense service... this is your pub. I would call this a “drinkers pub”... if you want a younger clientele with music pumping go elsewhere and there are plenty in Billericay... recommended

We pride ourselves on good customer service, quality locally sourced ingredients, all our food is freshly prepared to order. Our delicious cakes are all made by hand on the premises including scones, cookies, cupcakes and celebration cakes. You can easily overlook somewhere you visit regularly and take it for granted but with a few minutes on my hands, thought I'd post a review of one of our favourite lunch or coffee stops!
Clean, modern tea shop, friendly staff and the best chicken, bacon and avocado Sandwich ever...can't bring myself to try anything else! Delicious!

We welcome you to our family run restaurant for brunch lunch and dinner. We have a snug which can seat up to 22 people for that special occasion or just a family Sunday lunch.There is a conservatory area or main dinning area. All have booths which can seat 2 to 6 people. Our food is Prepared from fresh produce daily by chefs who can adapt to your requirements. Come and try us I'm sure you will be happy with the excellent quality of our food wine and beer.

This is one of our favourite places and we invited friends to join us for dinner. We deliberately booked an early dinner, and the table was ready even though it was very busy. Now the disappointment. On the main menu, there were 3 of the special meals not available (including the best liver and bacon) and pork and fillet steak. Our friends decided on the rib eye but asked for an alternative to chips, perhaps a jacket - absolutely no chance, finished eating mash ! Having said that the food was excellent and our server very attentive, but after the disappointment of the main course, there was little or no puddings, so we passed. All in all, we will think twice about returning but check beforehand what is on the menu. We did not expect this at 7-30pm.

We had a 3 course meal as a family of five and all chose different dishes from both the early bird and Al a Carte menu.
Food was cooked fresh, hot and plentiful. Very tasty and service was good. A good choice of wine and a wide variety of italian dishes to choose from. One of the best italian restaurant I have been to. It was excellent value for money.

I loved loves loves this restaurant takeaway for years and have always recommended it to people wanting a great curry. In the last 6 months the food has really not been to a great standard. We persevered and kept ordering hoping it would get better but unfortunately I won't be ordering food from Spice King again. I wonder if they have had a change in chef?

Lacking hygiene in respects of cross contamination with money and food. Slow service and unable to handle when it's busy . Not the best kebab in the area Raleigh much better and Benfleet so worth it seen as I traveled 6 miles.We are sorry to disappoint you. We are trying our hardest everyday to teach all employees about hygiene and customer care. And we assure you we will try our hardest to make sure they follow the regulations.
