People have been flocking to Bad Nenndorf to be cured by its healing waters for more than two centuries, ever since Count Wilhelm IX of Hessen-Kassel founded the spa town in 1787. Situated about 20 miles west of Hannover, the village of Nenndorf actually has a history going back much further than the "Bad" (baths), at least to the 10th century. The tranquil Kurpark (Spa Park) was designed like an English landscape park and is filled with many exotic trees that are now over 200 years old.

We met family here who'd previously eaten at this restaurant. The location is perfect for walkers, or people who prefer countryside to town. The venue is an attractive building, with glorious outside Seating areas, which wouldn't look out of place in the Austrian Alps. The women serving were all dressed in Dirndls. The food was brilliant, as was the service and friendliness of staff.

We ate at this restaurant on our way from The Netherlands to Berlin. It is a typical German restaurant. Simple, non-luxury but friendly staff and good German food. Location is near the highway so ten times better than eating at a Raststätte. We had lunch but I know that the kitchen closes at 8 PM in the evening.

Went for a mid-week lunch at this smart restaurant in Riepen, a village near Bad Nenndorf. There are actually 3 restaurants under one roof: 'La Forge' for gourmet dining, 'Schmiede-Restaurant', less grand but still very fine, and 'Esse', where bar meals are served. We arrived without having made a reservation at the 'Schmiede-Restaurant' and we're readily accommodated. First impressions were of strict formality: dining room very carefully laid out and tables set, staff dressed in a manner which reflected local costumes. As other reviewers have commented, the range of dishes on the menu is fairly limited, but this was not a problem for us. All styles of traditional North German fare were covered. For most dishes there is a 'small portion' option, which we all took: it was all very ample. The food itself was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was also superb.
If you are visiting Bad Nenndorf it is worth making the effort to get out to this place for something a bit different.

…. Versprechen die gemacht werden, werden nicht eingehalten.
Waren nach langer Zeit mal wieder in der Kotelett-Schmiede bei Möbel Heinrich,
um eine Kleinigkeit zu Mittag zu essen.
So wie wir es kannten waren fast alle Tische besetzt. Eigentlich ein gutes Zeichen, aber diesmal leider nicht für uns.
Aus der fast noch druckfrischen Speisekarte haben wir uns zwei Klassiker der Kote-lett-Schmiede herausgesucht. Das waren zum einen die immer wieder heiß begehrte Riesencurrywurst mit Pommes für 4,90 € und Gyros frisch vom Spieß mit Zwiebeln für 5,20 €.
Die Currywurst war u. a. in der neuen Hochglanz Speisekarte appetitanregend mit Pommes und Salatgarnitur abgebildet. Nur so wie es hier den Gästen versprochen wird, haben wir sie nicht bekommen. Die Currywurst kam ohne Salat und Tomate und außerdem auf einer ganz anderen Tellerform. Anders, wie wir es kannten und es auf dem Bild der Speisekarte versprochen wurde. Eine für uns negative Veränderung.
Auch das Gyros war bestimmt nicht frisch vom Spieß. Hatte ich viel besser in Erinne-rung. Es war teilweise einfach zu dick geschnitten und nicht annähernd kross.
Kein Vergleich wie man es in der Regel in dem griechischen Restaurant bekommt.
Hier trifft der Slogan der Kotelett-Schmiede (Deckblatt der Speisekarte)
„Wir bereiten Qualität zu, die man schmeckt“, leider nicht zu.
Gestört hatte uns auch, dass besonders das Gyros fast schon kalt war.
Hier stellt sich die Frage, warum kann man nicht die Teller vorwärmen kann.
Auch nicht schön war, das unsere Getränke erst nach den Speisen kamen und diese Eigenart konnten wir auch am Nachbartisch beobachten.
Für die Zukunft, sehen wir auf jeden Fall Optimierungsbedarf, um die Gästezufriedenheit zu erhöhen, auch wenn es sich hier um keine Dauergäste (durch das Möbel-Haus) handelt.
Zum Ambiente noch der Hinweis, das wir uns hier in einem Möbelhaus-Restaurant befinden, dementsprechend sind hier auch viele Gäste, die auch viel Unruhe hereinbringen. Ein super Ambiente kann man hier also nicht erwarten.
Seitens der Sauberkeit gibt es aus unserer Sicht keine Probleme (könnte sich auch Möbel Heinrich nicht erlauben). Die Toiletten sind modern eingericht und werden nachweislich kontrolliert.
Zusammenfassend sehen wir Optimierungsbedarf besonders mit Bildern in der Speisekarte die nicht eingehalten werden. Wenn Werbeversprechen belastbare Fakten versprechen, sollten (müssen) die auch eingehalten werden.

We strained their patience with a late arrival, but that did not affect the quality of the food or the friendliness of the service. We ate here twice and enjoyed perfectly prepared authentic dishes at reasonable prices.

Pleasant hotel/restaurant at the edge of town, off the main tourist track. Quite a limited, but authentic German, lunch menu but the chef was more than willing to accommodate the special wishes of one member of our party. We arrived at just after 12 noon (having reserved a table) and had the dining room to ourselves. By 12.30 all the tables were occupied - and by local folk, not tourists. Recommended.

Had a very nice lunch here, with my wife and her aunt. Very good, solid German fare and friendly, helpful staff. We were there in May, which is Spargel (asparagus) season. There were 20 ways to eat a pound of asparagus. Good meats and beer. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a great local hangout without the pretension and prices of the upscale hotel restaurants.

Waren bereits zweimal zum Essen im Hotels Hannover und können als Ergebnis nur feststellen, dass das Essen uns sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Besonders zu empfehlen ist der Salatteller und auch das Currygeschnetzelte. Da gibt es nichts zu meckern. Von Fleisch bis Fisch, ist für jeden Appetit etwas dabei.
Durch die ideale Lage ist das Bistro auch nur für eine Tasse Kaffee mit täglich frischgebackenen Kuchen zu empfehlen.
Für uns eine sehr gute Küche für ein Bistro mit super Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.
Auch die einzigartige Panoramalage des Hotels Hannover, direkt am Kurpark und doch mitten in der Stadt ist eine Empfehlung wert.
Bei der Bedienung könnte aus unserer Sicht in Sachen Kundenorientierung noch eine Optimierung stattfinden.
