The place looks unassuming. The Terrace is upstairs and so not visible from the ground. They serve pizza; so we thought, maybe it's not the best place for Greek food. But we noticed an endless stream of people going in here; so we had to try it. It was great. Portions are very large. You can select from a variety of side dishes (if you ask); so skip the fries and try the horta (a spinach-like vegetable). The spit-roasted pork, the seafood spaghetti, the seafood asparagus, and grilled orata (whole fish) were all excellent. Appetizers we liked were the eggplant spread (done differently than I have seen elsewhere) and the Karpathian cheese-and-vegetable keftedes.

the view is amazing
the food is somehow different from the same menu you can get in almost any taverna in Greece
a nice attempt to offer something different from gyros, pastisso etc (still the have them, but also something else)
in any case the view from the porch would make you love anything you eat there

We really enjoyed our (several) visits to Calypso during our week in Amoopi. We were always greeted quickly and warmly, and the restaurant has a really amazing view of the water. The Gyros were the best we have had in Greece, and the Eggplant Saganaki was deeply flavored and just amazing. We didn't have a single dish we didn't enjoy.
To top it off, George (the owners son) was an engaging and entertaining presence at the restaurant - he happily suggested other favorites of his in Karpathos and other Islands.
We had a wonderful time at Calypso, and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Next to Ammopi Rent a Car we found this rest. in the former location of The Farmhouse. If you want tot try kalamary, roasted pork or a dilicious grilled chicken, you must try this rest. With a international experienced cook en very friendly personal it maybe you feel sorry you did not discver this place before.

After 10 days in Greece we started missing some pasta and we gladly tried this place suggested by the owner of Villa Althea rooms. Very good pasta, nice sauces and perfectly cooked, we tried both La Capannina (similar to pasta alla norma) and with shrimps and calamars plus the salad with nuts, grapes and Parmesan. We also came for drinks (aperol spritz only 4 eur, cocktails 6 eur), we have never been disappointed! Magnificent view over the Amoopi bay, very nice environment, steps away from the beach of small Amoopi - great if you come for lunch from the beach too. Bravi Michele and Federico, genuinita' e simpatia!

If you want to try a real typical greek food you must try pita: in this place you can find good food at right prices! Pita gyros 2.50€. Service is fast, people are nice. It's in pigadia center, in the harbour!
