Met family for lunch here on Wednesday and was looking forward to some lovely food. The pub is in a lovely location, although not particularly well signposted, but we found it eventually. We were greeted by friendly staff and the atmosphere was quiet, but charming. For starters, my three companions ordered the calamari and I had the prawn and crayfish tail cocktail. Mine was delicious and I'm assured that the calamari was too. It was certainly all very fresh. For the main course, we ordered the lemon and herb chicken, the burger, the lamb curry and steak and ale pie.Aside from it seeming to take a long time to be served, the curry had bones in it, which is fine, but they'd obviously broken up and were in little bits, scattered throughout, so that I had to be quite watchful what I put in mouth in order to ensure I didn't risk a tooth.Whilst the curry was tasty and a good portion size, with naan bread and poppadoms, the bone issue put me off somewhat. However, everyone else's food looked good and was eaten, with no complaints. However, I think there are better eateries in the area.Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the majority of your food and as you said all of our food is cooked fresh and therefore can sometimes take a short while. The current ‘curry of the day’ is a Lamb Gosht which is traditionally served on the bone. I am sorry you found that awkward to eat and we will take your feedback on board. Thanks again.

Dropped in here a Sunday afternoon and arrived just after 2pm so in time to get a spot of dinner.I had a nice pint of Ringwood Razor back.We had ham, egg and chips and the roast beef dinner, both of these were fine.Nice sitting in the back beer garden but we were pestered by wasps but nothing that can be done about that.I’d rate this place Good if it was available, we’ll be back again if in the area.

Decided to try this as heard about the refurbishments and the menu looked promising. Four of us went for dinner on Friday evening - restaurant seemed quite quiet although weather was poor. My starter arancini was okay but very average. I ordered the vegan burger as I had read another review praising it. It was hopeless.A dry tasteless bun hardly toasted with a single small piece of lettuce, 2 thin slices of tomato and some shavings of onion. The burger itself was thin and lacking any flavour. The whole thing was dismal. The little bucket of chips were okay but just as well as that was all you wanted to eat. Certainly not worth £13.95! The service was lacklustre to say the least. We had to wait at least 10 -15 minutes after we were shown the table before we were asked if we wanted to order a drink. Too long. Then we had to wait whilst the plates were cleared and again a wait before we could attract attention to order some wine to go with the mains. Service was surly without a smile. One of the party asked for a glass of water - it never came. Another had the chicken which she said was very average. As other reviewers have commented the bill came with an automatic service charge which we would have refused to pay had we been without company but you don't want to spoil the evening which was already bad enough because of the disappointing meaI.I wanted to be able to write a good review because Henley badly needs a good pub serving good food. This just wasn't up to it and we won't be rushing back.Thank you for your feedback kayparton. I have discussed this with our head chef and the team on duty that day. it is of course disappointing to hear such things and I want to apologise for your experience. My focus as a new GM is to improve the food offering and service and your message is very important to me to gain a better insight into what is going wrong at the moment. .I do hope you will consider coming back to us in the future and look forward to meeting you myself if you do.

In this part of Southern Oxfordshire we have access to a number of excellent places to eat and the Unicorn is right up there with them. Their specials board particularly offered a number of inventive and very enjoyable options, all at a reasonable price. For quality, service and price the Unicorn takes a lot of beating!

Found the actor in Henley while looking for somewhere to have lunch. What a find. Great British menu of traditional main and dessert dishes at sensible prices. I ordered rabbit in Dijon mustard sauce and my wife lamb shank, absolutely beautiful, cooked to perfection. The previous night we had dined in a Marco Pierre White restaurant and this food was so much better, it put Marcos food to shame. We both had apple crumble custard and again great cooking. We were served well in a moderately busy part of the day. My wife and I highly recommend this pub.Thank you very much for your kind review, and we are loving the comparison :-)

In a lovely spot with plenty of parking at the station, this was a good experience. The steak was very good (and not cheap but in this case you definitely get what you pay for). Good selection of local beer and a very good wine list. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your meal with us. And thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, it’s much appreciated! Our steak is particularly special. It’s 28 day aged grass fed beef from the West Country. Spectacular cows! We really hope you’ll visit us again soon. Kindest regards, Kevin
