Stanlake Park Wine Estate

My husband and I booked this tour. Ruth was our guide. She was knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour! It was a nice way to spend the afternoon as you learnt a lot without being bored (which is normally the case when you go on vineyard guided tour). We tasted 8 different wines in generous quantity. The weather was beautiful so we were able to enjoy the bubbly they serve on arrival in the walled garden.
A great place to visit if you are in the area

The Mill at Sonning Theatre

Set on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning Theatre promises a unique experience where your visit includes a two-course meal and a show in a beautiful converted water mill. Start your visit with a drink (or two...) in the Waterwheel Bar, or, if you visit us in the summer, take a sunny seat on The Mill Stream Terrace. From the bar make your way upstairs to our restaurant with views out over the river, where you will find your tickets and complimentary programme waiting on your table. The main course is served buffet style but our friendly staff will be on hand to take your drinks and desserts orders. After enjoying a two-course meal, prepared daily in our kitchen using only the best locally sourced ingredients, you will make your way into the main event of your visit - the theatre! The theatre itself is an intimate venue, Seating just over 200 people, air conditioned with spacious and comfy seats that won't leave you longing for legroom or calling for a cushion. During the year we produce a wide variety of plays in the theatre, including a musical over the Christmas season, and regular music and comedy nights that will have you dancing and rolling in the aisles. Whatever your tastes, in both theatre and food, you will be sure to find something to whet your appetite here at The Mill. Our Waterwheel Bar is also open for artisan coffee and homemade cakes during the day. Pop in and see us from 11am-5pm every Tuesday-Sunday.

Four of us attended The Hound of the Baskervilles. We were all so impressed, we were gripped from the very start. I have to say we were looking forward to a pleasant evening, but this play exceeded all our expectations. Atmospheric, thrilling, creepy, funny, great acting, brilliant use of the deceptivelly simple stage set and use of the theatre spaces. Defiinitely one of the best plays I have enjoyed - and I have enjoyed many. It certainly deserves the great reviews given by the press. Very cleverly crafted, this really is a must-see play. Wouldn't be surprised to see this transfer to the west end.
As always the theatre itself is a joy. Good buffet restaurant (soon to be refurbished), and great service. This small theatre provides an iintimate atmosphere that enhances whatever Performances appear there. This is the third time that I have visited along with different friends who have mobility difficulties. Each time I have booked seats I have discussed the facilities with the staff before the visit, and they have been very helpful in booking appropriate seats and ensuring assistance on the night of the visit. There is a supervised chair-lift and the staff are attentive to provide extra assistance if necessary at the buffet, the restaurant and the theatre. There are good disabled toilets on the ground floor and also at restaurant level. The night we visited, there were at least three other people who needed, and received, help with moving around. The staff are so friendly and helpful at all levels. Highly recommend this venue.

Spent a great hour with my daughters making and decorating chocolate bars and lollipops. Rosie was friendly and informative and obviously has a passion for what she does. Easy place to find with clear instructions and parking right outside.
Chocolate was delicious, and even though I'm not usually a fan of white chocolate it was of excellent quality and I liked that too...all very yummy. My only suggestion would perhaps be to offer some more adult appealing toppings, like toffee pieces, freeze dried strawberries, honeycomb and nuts although I appreciate that Rosie has to be mindful of allergies so the latter is a no-no.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable treat and came away with 5 lovely chocolate items to eat or share.....definitely not sharing!!

Beautifully situated in rolling parkland in the Chilterns, this beautiful country home is a wonderful place to visit. The house was specially opened to a group there from NSPCC supporters. After the presentation regarding the charity and and its work followed by a cold salad lunch not very inspiring, the real WOW was the house tour with the family history. We had an excellent guide in Karen who was not only very well informed but so enthusiastic about the family house and grounds. The house is used still as a home so very comfortable with not too large rooms but interesting paintings, furniture and artifacts.
The chapel is quiet and simple and the Gardens still flowering in October are beautifully maintained. You can visit the aber of trees as well as a children's adventure playground. The park offers beautiful views over the chiltern hills and Valleys with the fallow deer grazing. A wonderful place to visit when it is open April to September for the house, although they do have special events going on throughout the year

Nuffield Place

Reviewed By Xraydiant - Sale, United Kingdom

Nuffield Place is a surprisingly modest house, for a man who was at one point the richest man in the world. The house interior has been set out, by the National Trust, as it would have been in the thirties - anyone older than 60 will find lots they recognise from their childhood! It's not exceptional as a building, but the story of William Morris's (aka Viscount Nuffield's) life is as fascinating as it is unusual. The various elements of his story are told with enthusiasm and humour by the volunteer guides. As mentioned by other visitors, I too would have liked to have learn more about the motor car side of his life, in addition to his almost overwhelming philanthropy. For me the pièce de résistance was his bedroom wardrobe, converted whilst his wife was away, into a fettling/tool shed!

Ratty from The Wind in the Willows nailed it when he said: "There is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." The Black Feather reinforced that sentiment a hundredfold. We spent an unforgettable day enjoying everything this wonderful boat had to offer. If there is a better way to spend a balmy, Indian Summer's day, then I'd like to know... Strongly recommended for water rats of all ages

Lovely house & grounds. Daffodils were out and the atmosphere was relaxed. Good to get out after all the snow and have a good stomp in our walking boots.
