We found this place on our way to visit the city. Among other choices we decided to go for this and it was indeed a very good one. The place is lovely and well decorated. It looks like you're having lunch or dinner in your grandma's house. The service was almost perfect and the food was good with a delicious soup and even more delicious main courses. For lunch you can also have a cheap menu for something more than ten euros per person. We would definitely come back again!!

We had reserved a table for a special occasion with some German friends. When we arrived we were led to a beautifully decorated table with a five-armed chandelier, vine-leaves, artfully folded napkins and other decorative touches. The staff was well-trained and showed a genuine, natural friendliness. The food arrived perfectly timed for all seven of us. We all had different meals, but they were all of the highest quality and the presentation was also excellent. As far as presentation is concerned, I think German restaurants in general have come a long way in recent years, and now that Germany has finally caught up to the rest of the world in the smoking issue we had a top-notch dining experience at the Ratskeller St. Georg.

My partner and I been for drinks several times over the last few months. The location is lovely - right in the middle of the historic city centre. The staff are great, very professional. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well-decorated. I've not been for dinner yet but my partner (who is a chef) has and says the food is amazing, very high quality and really good value for money. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

FORSTHAUS am Mohnesee

We were a party of 18 from Scotland and went for lunch at this restaurant after an enjoyable morning boating on the lake. Our order was simple, with some wanting Schnitzel, others egg mayonnaise, and 6 people wanted just a portion of chips. Setting aside that it took over 90 minutes for 12 of us to receive our dishes, the incredible part happened when the waitress told the 6 people with empty plates that the restaurant had run out of chips. Offering the 6 disgruntled diners potato croquettes as an alternative, she then was seen leaving the restaurant at the end of her shift, leaving a young, new waiter in charge. The waiter seemed surprised that we were unhappy with the appalling service we had received. Those with food felt guilty and those without what they had ordered felt very let down. Rarely have I experienced such poor customer service. The waiter said he had no authority to reduce the bill and the manager wasn't at the restaurant. All in all, a disappointing experience which left us with a poor view of German customer service.

This was a great take on classic German dishes. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. We were a group of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meal without exception. Staff were super friendly and helpful - even to the uneducated English!! Thank goodness. If you want somewhere that feels a bit special, this is definitely the best place in Soest for that.

Food excelent and with quite high intentions. Menu only in German and some waiters not so good at English. Very nice and calm hotel on the German countyside. Nice area for walking and running. Great view from the damm about a mile down the road. If you like running the lap over the damm and bridge is 12 km long trough the forest. Can really recommend the Rind filet, medium rare!!!

We visited the lake view restaurant on a sunny Sunday afternoon and were surprised that it was very crowded. Nevertheless we were lucky to get a table. Despite the crowds we were served friendly and fast and the coffee as well as the cake tasted good. Maybe you should come for a visit during the week, then there is probably not such a hustle and bustle.

Forget the food just sample the beers, The dark beers are very good for those cold days. Summer is all about the Pils.Mind you the service was a little slow and a massive issue with the wasps, had to move on in the end.Take time to admire the town, very few foreign tourist like ourselves, that is a good thing.

Haus Griese is a hotel with an excellent restaurant. The food is extremely well presented and very tasty. The service was excellent and there is a great view of the Mohnesee. Haus Griese is primarily a very well appointed hotel, with very comfortable rooms. I whole heartily recommend this hotel and restaurant.

On a very wet and windy day decided to have a drive out to this restaurant. The food is wonderful and the ambience of the restaurant was really lovely. Very unusual with stunning décor and the service was excellent. Will definitely come back in the Summer when the lake and surrounding area will just give perfection to this place. Very reasonable and well worth the visit but it can be very busy and although we didn't have a problem to be seated it probably would be best to book .
