Had dinner with two friends in the backyard of this old-style typical Slovenian restaurant. Their menu focuses on meat. We had a nice appetizer of local ham and bacon (very good) together with "porcini" mushrooms. Main was a succulent beef fillet, cooked to the point, and very tasty, with some excellent sides. Drank a good bottle of Slovenian refosk. Be prepared to the fact they have no printed menu - in any case the bill was very reasonable. Familiar but efficient service.

Went for a quick lunch, ordered a pepper sauce filet mignon to go w/ some roast potatoes and a small coke. Spent 20⬠overall. Although I wasn't greeted with much enthusiasm upon arrival, I was seated quite promptly. Coke also arrived immediately.When it came to food, potatoes weren't bad at all and came in large quantity. Meat was neither abundant, nor tender, with the "pepper sauce" feeling like standard mustard sauce w/ some random pepper corns scattered in it. Dish overall didn't taste right. Might just have been unfortunate, but I definitely had much better meals in Slovenia.When it came to paying the bill, waiter was busy at the phone. I had to wait for his call to end (he didn't show much interest in me waiting, and took his time to keep his conversation going). He messed up w/ calculation and asked 4⬠less than expected. I reported what happened and paid the extra 4â¬. He said thanks, but non-verbally showed little appreciation.Funny thing is that I had an exactly similar experience at a restaurant in nearby Lokev a few months ago. On the occasion, I was charmingly thanked and just let go w/ no "extra" to pay. Of course I wasn't expecting the same thing to happen twice. A good meal would have been enough to satisfy my expectations...

One of the best ribs I have tried. Really tender and juicy meat with caramelized onions and BBQ sauce served with fries and coleslaw. Couldnât decide which ribs were better, ones with caramelized onions or with mustard. Really big portions and decent prices. We will definitely come back!

Ravioli were my best ever. Home made, perfectly al dente, stuffed with young goat cheese and truffles. Njami. And at the end tiramisu. Again great. For beer lovers they have home made Kotar. Good stuff.

Our friends who live in Ljubljana recommended we visit Gostina Mahnic and we were not disappointed. This nicely furnished restaurant offers dining both inside and outside under a covered terrace.The restaurant specialises in barbeque meat dishes (but also offers pasta, fish etc). We ordered a mixed barbeque meat dish for two which was delicious and in fact was enough for four persons. Apparently, the restaurantâs generous portions are an added feature. A variety of deserts are also on offer, as well as a large choice of beverages, with the beer being excellent.Staff were courteous and efficient, pricing was very reasonable and credit cards are readily accepted.All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Gostina Mahnic and could not fault any aspect.

Absolute gem of a restaurant. Very well presented inside - elegant.We were a large group and very well taken care of. The dishes just kept on coming! We had accompanying wines too.They were absolutely delicious and quite different. Every course I could have eaten again! The chef was great - very modest too!

This restaurant was recommended by a male friend, so I wasn't surprised by the gigantic meat portions they offer. Everything else was disappointing. We waited 15 minutes for the staff to spot us, even though the place was almost empty. When I asked for my leftovers to be packed to go, the waitress brought tin foil and left it on the table for me to pack the food myself. I felt like I was transported 30 years back in time and it wasn't a pleasant feeling.

I have been here many times and food was always amazing. Most of it is produced by the owner or sourced locally.Try the cold cuts, handmade pasta and meat for main course (ask for "izpod peke"). I love it all.I would definitely return here and I recommend the place to you too
