Murmansk (Russian: Му́рманск, IPA: [ˈmurmənsk]; Kildin Sami: Мурман ланнҍ; Northern Sami: Murmánska; Skolt Sami: Muurman) is a port city and the administrative center of Murmansk Oblast in the far northwest part of Russia. It sits on both slopes and banks of a modest ria or fjord, Kola Bay, an estuarine inlet of the Barents Sea. Its bulk is on the east bank of the inlet. It is in the north of the rounded Kola Peninsula which covers most of the Oblast (semi-autonomous region). The city is 67 miles (108 km) from the border with Norway and 113 miles (182 km) from the Finnish border. The city is named for the Murman Coast; an archaic term in Russian for Norwegian.

This was a positive experience. I ordered sausages from pork. Full of meat and mildly seasoned. Also the other around the table liked what they had. Good service.

I visited this place many years ago and was very impressed to see it open during my last business trip to Russia. Nothing fancy there, it's not a restaurant by any mean, but a cafe the simple and tasty food. Last time I was there I had chicken broth soup, Russian potato salad (with real Russian pickles!!!) and ham & cheese crepes - everything was just like homemade comfort food should be! If you are running around the town and got hungry, stop by for a quick lunch break.

We was at Saturday 10.01.15 on teahouse Sumakh for eating Lunch. As i have said in my earlier review from other restaurants in Murmansk, nobody must say that service in town of Murmansk is negativ. We eat a very good kebab and the service here was also amazing. We felt us welcome and with service minded people who worked here we spent som hours here. When they served our lunch to us it was so nice decoration and taste good, so also here we will be back when we arrive Murmansk 230 kilometers from Kirkenes in Norway.Kjell KristiansenKIRKENES

This small hotel has a ski resort above it and an aqua park indoors. they offer day packages that include snow activities and swimming and lunch for a fixed price. Our kids learnt to ski here on their training slope. All equipment rental is included in the day package price. We returned the next day and bought ala carte (much cheaper) - the kids wanted to spend more time skiing.

I remember good food and prices that left our Moscow wallet to breathe a little. Both sushi rolls and our soups were good, the ambience nice even though I remember a bit of a waiting until our food arrived.

There is a network of these places in the city. I'd call the place "democratic" but it is a little bit too expensive for what a "run-in-and-eat" type of place. Massive wooden tables and benches, resistant to ... intensive Russian's personality are comfortable just enough for a pair of hours you'll spend here for food. There is more comfortable seating sometimes available if you are lucky. Food quality varies on day of the week (Thursday and Friday night you have better chance to get better food, Monday is less advisable day to visit) but still quite good for a Bistro. That applies to service too. Sometimes it's good, sometimes a little disappointing, but generally, if you don't have too high expectations you'd be satisfied. Don't forget 10% tip, rounded up to next 50-100 rubles as a customary in Russia.
