While staying in Loeffingen for five days, I enjoyed several meals at the Ochsen, located in the heart of town. The service was always good; the staff friendly and helpful with the menu, with typical Black Forest fare. It was a quiet, pleasant place to dine, and had a cozy, rustic atmosphere. I believe I had goulash soup on two occasions, and it was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. The staff was acquainted with my B&B hosts, so I knew it was popular with the locals. I was impressed with the fact that I was greeted as a friend on my second visit. A quality establishment in a really charming town.

We enjoyed a dinner of white asparagus (Spargel), steak and dessert. The spargel came with a cream sauce that was just excellent. Being in Germany during this seasonal dish,we had many sauces and this was the best. The steak was a small thick fillet, perfectly cooked, and very tender. We appreciated the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. (The portions in many German restaurants are too large and we leave a lot of food.) Very nice restaurant with white linen table clothes fresh flowers and candle. Would recommend it.
