Brauhaus Kloster Machern

Visited as a party of nine early Sunday pm. We hadn’t booked which in hindsight was a mistake. The seating of new arrivals is not well organised or controlled so people just wander in and sit down when others are waiting. We finally got a table and things got better. Food was hearty and good. Good selection of beers and the waitress who had been a little off-hand to start with got a lot better.A good visit and would return.

It’s hard to believe that there are only 6 other reviews for this place. Perhaps there just aren’t many people visiting the Mosel. I say go! And stay at Hubertushof B&B in Lieser!Marcus has now grown from camera-shy tiny village chef, to TV chef (so I hear). Whatever, the food is still great and the presentation is wonderful. I also ate brunch on my last visit and the country, pan-fried waffles were outstanding. Marcus also makes Pork Tartar. Yes, pork. I’ve had it twice in Germany and love it! The menu always changes, so just look at some pictures of the crazy food! I’ll agree that the service isn’t brilliant, but I do think that it is getting better. I don’t care; this is a great experience and one of my favorite places in the world. And when I say the bar scene is pretty good, I mean that there are 6 seats and good conversation, not hip-hop garbage.

Visited this somewhat hidden away restaurant with a group of 7 friends -and we are so happy we went there! Walking into the back alley we loved the atmosphere right away. Nicely decorated and their food and wine followed up. All at good prices, particularly the wine. Good quality at a good price -what more to ask for? Add a friendly staff to this and you have a top recommandation for where to dine in Bernkastel-Kued All the dishes we had were good, I loved the beetroot I had as a starter. Enjoy!

Went here due to the high rating. However,... It smells like a bar inside. It looks not very nice inside either. There were small flies, big flies and mosquitoes flying around and you heard several customers trying to catch them. Food was OK but small sizes. The Asian waitress was very friendly and helpful. Never again though....

The food was interesting, classic German, but wonderfully prepared. However, we will not return. We waited an hour for our dessert to be served. When we asked about it, we were told it was coming. Soon thereafter we said if it wasn't coming we wanted our check. We were given the check. Too bad-- had an excellent wine selection also.

Nested in the heart of this stunning medieval village, Graacher Tor is offering a taste and an atmosphere typical matching the surrounding with a menu focusing on local dishes, with portions so generous that I recommend to share, and with a primary attention to ingredients, those are of pristine quality.Great service we had from smiling Julia that took perfectly care of us, she is young and talented.Wide wine selection as you can expect in one of the capitals of Mosel wine , pratically all wines are at Km 0 or just a little more.Make sure to take a walk before and after the meal in this village that is idyllic, and above and around you best Mosel vineyards.

Culinarium R 2.0

Reviewed By Michael-Traveller-JP

Culinarium R is the gourmet restaurant of Hotel Richtershof. It used to have a Michelin Star, but lost it after the chef went to another place. The ambience of the place is nice, with a terrace in the garden of the hotel as preferred dining spot in summer. We went for the set menu with wine parings. Everything we had was nice. Although the chef creates dishes that have some complexity, they are not over-designed and too creative. Overall, the food is not yet on Michelin star level, but very close. Whereas the set menu actually offers a decent value, we can't say that about the wine parings. The wines were interesting, but not special enough to justify the price tag.Service in the place is friendly and competent, but could have been a bit more attentive.Still we enjoyed our dinner at Culinarium R. When staying at Richtershof, if you are not expecting a flawless experience, you will not be disappointed when dining at their gourmet restaurant.

Ate here in May 2016. The food was very very good. The asparagus soup was lovely. We then had 2 mains, steak and pork loin with asparagus, assorted vegetables and bratkartoffeln etc., Both mains were cooked to perfection. There was quite a wait as the food is obviously cooked to order, but it was well worth the wait. The manager also took a polite interest in ensuring everything was fine - and he was happy to allow our (well behaved) miniature dog to sit with us while we were there. Well worth a visit.

Restaurant Schanz

restaurant étoilé dans le guide Michelin

Reviewed By schmidtmg

Thomas Schanz has held two stars in his family run restaurant since the end of 2015. The two stars are well deserved, and food is top notch. Were it only for the food, I'd give five stars. The tourelle de foie gras, the Atlantic hake, the red label pigeon breast, the lamb from Wales, all were full of flavours and the ingredients of excellent quality. My daughter had an a la carte starter of frog legs which she also liked a lot. My wife and I ordered a cheese course instead of the menu dessert - this was good but not outstanding, and I have had better brie de meaux, crottin and livarot before.Service and the choice of menu and/or a la carte dishes was not flawless. The restaurant called me 4 days before the lunch date and asked whether we (a party of 6) would opt for a la carte or the menu. I called the restaurant the night before the lunch and indicated that we would select a la carte. I was put through to Mr. Schanz personally who indicated that we would have to choose from within the menu, except for our daughter who could choose a la carte. We did not quite grasp why this limitation was imposed, as we would have liked to sample the langoustine starter and turbot main course, both of which were not on the menu; perhaps it was because of Easter Monday, Monday being a day on which the restaurant is normally closed. Service itself was very friendly, but one waiter oddly failed to fill up the water and wine glasses of my wife and my mother, and failed to do so throughout the lunch. My wife found this very odd and in the end almost offensive. The red wine we ordered from the same waiter for the cheese course basically was served after the cheese course, after we reminded another waiter. When my daughter asked the waiter whether ice cream was available fore dessert, he simply said 'yes' and disappeared. The ice cream was later ordered from another waitress. The wine list is strong on German wines, and we had two excellent and fairly priced bottles from the Mosel region...
