It is located on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains (Greek: Τρόοδος, Turkish: Trodos) and is one of the Krasochoria (Greek: Κρασοχώρια) (wine villages). Platres is the largest Troodos resort, situated about 5km from Troodos square, 25 kilometers (16 mi) north-west of Limassol and 45 kilometers (28 mi) south-west of the capital Nicosia. Platres is a very old village and is mentioned among the 119 villages of the Limassol district that existed during the Lusignan Era (1192-1489 AD) and the Venetian Era (1489-1571 AD). Platres or Pano Platres (Upper Plátres) (Greek: Πάνω Πλάτρες, Turkish: Yukarı Platres) is the principal hill resort of Cyprus. The town has a resident population of fewer than 300, but this can swell to 10000 during tourist seasons.

I have visited this place many times. The snacks are top notch. Superb omelettes (made any way you like), home-made hamburgers, pitta bread, potatoes, club sandwiches, and toasted sandwiches (the cheese is particularly smooth, creamy and not very salted). The moussaka is also excellent. The apple pie, served with ice cream is divine. The service is impeccable. The prices are very reasonable and the shop clean and well looked after. A must visit.

Stopped here on a Sunday in January. It was chaos with traffic. The Police not having a scooby with the stationary traffic. Then we stumbled across this beauty. A warm welcome, great food which came quickly. The service overall was great and the bill certainly didn't break the bank.We left into a snow storm and the traffic once again a nightmare. But anyway. Well worth the stop here for food.

Have visited on the 27th of January since we have been passing by.It is situated at a very convenient place. There is outdoor seating for non smokers and smokers. During noon Sigma Bakeries serve hot food if you want, otherwise you buy savory or cold sandwich. We asked for a hot sandwich but they told us they do not make hot sandwiches during lunch! We bought cold sandwiches the first time and after we ate we bought other snacks to take with us.

just skip this one and go half kilometer further and you will find a Sigma Bakery. Galart is not the place to be and not to stop at all. There is a village woman there who thinks is queen Elisavet and have no idea of how to serve people and food. The food is low quality and the prices are way higher than the quality of the whole thing.
