Zodra het mooi weer is rijden we in de auto naar Het lachende paard. Het is een camping, maar heeft ook een gezellig terras. Daar zitten we graag een uurtje of 2 met een pilsje - of als we heel onverstandig zijn - met een ijscoupe boerenjongensijs met slagroom. Hele leuke eigenaren, gezellig terras, volop in de zon en wow wat is het lekker stil daar. Ook als het seizoen bijna voorbij is, rijden we er nog een keer langs, dat doen we trouwens al jaren!

We found this great place by accident - it was on the main road in town and we needed a coffee & snack. What a delight. Multi-lingual (English/Dutch) very friendly, quick service, beautiful clean surroundings with history and many objects d'art. Great Coffee and home-made cake. Clean toilets and easy parking opposite. Lovely village with historical museum and great history. Roughly between Dokkum and Lauwersoog along the Wadden Sea. Open March to October.

This is a restaurant by the Dokkumer Neuwe Zeijle, weher you can see the bridge over the Dokkum Canal and all its workings, as well as some really interesting baots moored there. The restaurant was really nice and run by friendly people. Dokkumer Coffee (alcoholic) and Apple Cake well recommended.
