Charming village pub serving home cooked meals, real ales, great wines. We offer a choice for most diners including Gluten Free and Vegan.

After a very warm welcome from Georgie, we were shown to our table. Everything lovely and clean. Food was lovely with no complaints from any of our party of Seven. Enjoyed drinks in the garden afterwards. Lovely pub and friendly staff. Home made gravy and light crispy Yorkshire puddings would have been a five stars. We will visit again even if it is a forty minute drive. Thanks again.

I would like to thank Claire and the management for helping myself and my family receive an absolutely amazing buffett for my mams funeral. The food was spot, there was an amazing selection of great sandwiches and different dishes. Which was freshly served and elegantly arranged. I Would highly recommend the buffet food with no hesitations. This most definitely contributed to a wonderful day.

We had heard of this restaurant and thought we would try it for our 44th wedding anniversary. It did not disappoint, lovely food, atmosphere and friendly staff. We had homemade Tomato and Basil Soup and Whitebait for starters, both generous portions and very nice.We both chose Lamb in Redcurrant and Madeira for main, it was lovely, came with New potatoes, peas, tempura cauliflower and onion rings. The cauliflower was gorgeous and I don’t eat cauliflower normally, says it all.I did try the White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake for dessert but I was so full I could not manage to eat it all, hubby was too full for dessert.I had 2 Glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, hubby had water as he was driving, all in all it was a lovely meal, and the price is very reasonable, will definitely be going back there.

First visit for Sunday lunch and was well impressed by the meal we had. A choice of three roasts, turkey, beef and pork, plenty of it and very tender. Veg consisted of boiled and proper roast potatoes, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, carrot and suede mash and and a mix of broccoli, carrots, french beans and cabbage and plenty of home made gravy. Too full after the meal for a pudding but a good choice if you can manage one. The service was excellent, very friendly and obliging. Will definitely be returning, highly recommended.

We have been to the Star Inn on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We were here on Saturday evening at 6pm to celebrate my birthday. The car park is small and tend to be busy so we decided to eat earlier. We had the fisherman's net to start (highly recommend!), and for mains we had the beef burger, chicken ballotine and fish and chips. The chips were very well cooked, so were all the main courses. Chicken was well-seasoned and moist (not over-cooked), beef burger was again moist and juicy and fish was delicious. The seasonal veg was also well-prepared and cooked (still al dente and not lifeless/soggy like how many other places serve them). Portion sizes were generous. Food was good value and unpretentious. Service was fast and attentive. This shows this is a place with a good team in place. The chefs clearly take pride in what they make, care about their food and place importance on attention to detail. The waiting staff were confident, friendly and efficient. If I were to suggest any improvements, I would say write down the specials on a few small blackboards to pass around instead of reading out to customers. Some of us are more visual!

My mother loves it here because of the salad. They have a new menu so we ordered off the fixed menu, having two bowls of tomato and basil soup to start and one gammon with baked potato and a fish pie with vegetables. Both courses were hot and tasty but the vegetables are hugely disappointing. Why anywhere would choose to serve awful rubbery frozen food is beyond me but apart from that everything else was fine. The salad bar was well stocked and we were very full by the end of the two courses. The staff were friendly and helpful and no doubt we’ll return soon.Thank you Susaq12 for the fantastic feedback especilly about the veg chioce. The choice of veg we use is out of our control but I will indeed make sure that they are hot. your feedback will be given to all my kitchen team.

Having lived in the village for two years this was our first visit and most definitely won’t be our last. We had friends over to stay and and the 6 of us decided to give the Steak & Stamp a try. There is a great micro brewery next to the restaurant serving a great choice of ales and ciders and also with a good selection of gin, which you can take through to the restaurant with you. Between the 6 of us we ordered the Tomahawk steak which looked amazing the sirloin, mixed grill and the chicken all of which were very tasty and very filling. The steaks were cooked to perfection the mixed grill is for the hearty eater and with friendly service and a good choice of red wine we will definitely be back. The restaurant is small but there is no rush and has a friendly atmosphere.
