Pub restaurant in Kingbridge - Delicious Food Served All Day - Gourmet Burgers - Local Seafood and Fish - Real Ales

Reviewed By Pennies-from-Devon

Having originally planned to lunch in Salcombe, until we saw the ridiculous prices being charged in the pubs and restaurants there, we went to Kingsbridge instead. Good move: lunch in the Seven Stars was delicious and reasonably priced. My husband had the Chicken Fajitas (an unusual choice for pub food), which arrived piping hot and sizzling. He assured me it was very tasty indeed. I had cheese & vegetable quiche with rocket salad and sweet potato fries, which was also excellent. With a pint and a half of beer, the meal and drinks came to less than £30.Good food, good beer, good prices and friendly, cheerful service: the perfect lunch!

Four of us visited for dinner on a Saturday. On arrival we were seated upstairs next to a window. The first thing we noticed was the table was right next to a radiator and as I sat down my leg touched it and it made me jump. It was so hot you couldn’t touch it. I asked a waitress how to turn it down and she said it was on the mains so she did it herself. It took a while to cool down and we were thankfully able to able to open the window which helped as it was stiflingly hot.Anyway onto the more positive food and drink. Drinks orders were taken promptly by one lovely waitress and the food orders by another. They were both very friendly, helpful and efficient. We ordered various mains and the food was on the whole very good. A slightly strange combination though, the lamb came with peppers and gravy, a first for me, not unpleasant just a bit odd! The lamb was very tasty and well cooked . The risotto with fish was very good. Our friends said their meals were lovely. We had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert all round, very moorish and exactly how it should be.It’s great they allow dogs, it seems almost all of Salcombe is very dog friendly which is lovely. The food and drinks were fairly priced and we had a very nice evening. We left a large tip for the excellent waitresses in particular.Would definitely come back again and try a few more things on the menu.Thank you for your review. Best wishes Liz & Tim and the award winning Team Vic

Visited here for the first time last night as we were staying in a cottage nearby. It was such a fabulous find. The menu is excellent with something for everyone. I had lasagne and my partner had steak pie. We had cheesecake for dessert. Everything was gorgeous. The service was outstanding. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by someone behind the bar even though it was very busy. Even the chef/owner came out to check that everyone was happy. Once again tonight we decided not to go into Salcombe but to dine here instead. The sea food platter and banoffee pie were outstanding. Again fantastic service. Our dog was also made to feel so welcome and given a treat each night by the owner.Forget going into Salcombe - eat here! Fabulous!Dear Nicky, many thanks for your lovely review. We always attempt to provide a varied and tasty menu and we pleased you enjoyed your time with us. Hopefully we will see you again in the not too distant future.

Cosy pub, comfy sofas with lovely log fire in the winter. They are very dog friendly with a big biscuit jar on the bar and water offered. Dogs are also allowed in the restaurant as well as the bar. Perfect stopping point after a bracing beach walk! We were chatting with some locals and were told there had been issues with staff previously but they have since left and and new staff taken on.. it seems to be working as we had no issues whatsoever. They also have a new chef, the specials he created were awesome. My husband isn’t keen on sea food but when he tasted my sea bass he wanted to swap! So nice to find a welcoming pub, both for us and the dogs, especially one so close to beautiful beaches. Well worth a drive out!

Went walking down to Ayrmer Cove from NT car park, blissfully empty beach! Walked back via circular route, stopped for lunch at this 13th century inn. Food, home cooked and delicious, service well timed with good portions for us adults and children. Prices reasonable for mains, £7 for pudding but once again home cooked. I would recommend eating here wholeheartedly.

We came for a late Sunday lunch, the place was still packed. Sitting in the older, atmospheric front room, tables were cramped but cosy. Service was charming, prices reasonable & we approved of their bespoke gin menu. Roasts were traditional & generous as was fish & chips. A lighter dish was the catch of the day (cod) served with salad minus the menu potato option. Parking was a bit of a nightmare since it was a sunny half-term day but ultimately worth the uphill walk back. Felt like an authentic English Sunday pub experience.

I was worried this was going to turn out to be an overpriced local pub, but although it was more than your average, the food more than makes up for it. We went with our boys, but they are at the age where it just about worked. I wouldn't have gone with any younger children - neither the menu or space would make it right for them really. I saw that they have a bbq on some nights with a different set up and that might work better for less formal. Extremely helpful front of house (owner?) was not sure who he was, but made us feel welcome, made sure the dog was comfortable and had water. What they call the bar snacks are more like starters really, and the menu is not 20 pages of inedible food, but a few choice options for fish, field and hedgerow to suit all, with some more basic, and value, children's options. Highly recommend. Make sure you book though as it is not a big place!
