The name Hoeilaart is of Gallic-Celtic origin, coming from "Ho-Lar," meaning a high clearing in the woods. Residents are called Hoeilanders or Doenders. The municipality only comprises the town of Hoeilaart proper. On January 1, 2006, Hoeilaart had a total population of 10,074. The total area is 20.43 km² which gives a population density of 493 inhabitants per km². Hoeilaart also sometimes called "The Glass Village" because of the greenhouse grape cultivation that once took place.

I was fortunate to be invited to spend an evening in this creatively remodeled old family home. The welcome is warm and personalized and the food is delicious. Since reservations are needed and the seating is limited to 30 people the guests are assured of lots of professional attention! This table d'hote would be a perfect spot for a romantic dinner as well as a lively family get together. Thank you Sofie and Jan. Tot ziens!

We went there on December 31st. New year's dinner. Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Food was amazing (fish, meat, fois de Gras, dessert); service was excellent, funny and very friendly (special shout out to the owner. very nice guy); pricing was - for the quality of the food and the service - crazily low. And we got a nice present ant the end (wine). What a nice evening. If we come. Back to Brussels... We come back. 10/10!

I spent here with my wife the 18th anniversary of our marriage. The restaurant is very nice, the food offered in the menù at 40 euros each is Excellent. 3 courses of high quality and the dessert. With only 7 euros more we could get half homard per person for the ma in course. We had all fish with the exception of the first course Made of Parma ham and very good melon. The service was made by the very gentle wife of the owner. I will definetively come back with friends. I recommend this very nice restaurant.

We'd passed this venerable place many times over the years, so a birthday was the time to give it a try. We weren't disappointed: their lunch menu was copious and delicious. Served by a friendly lady from Thailand. Only negative note: the house dog, who appears to have the run of the dining room. And he is badly behaved. I won't ruin your appetite, but I think the owners know that they'll have to keep him away from the guests.

You may wonder why trying on and on if i'm always about to be disappointed?Well, "Chez Lulu" is close to business, close to people and friends, location is effective (between Waterloo and Zaventem, not in Brussels), the venue is very nice, the deco too; the arrangement and attention to details are more than correct (giant kitchen for the kids and lots to play with in the garden)... the food is also great. that's why it's such a pity to have a poor, unprofessional not to say unqualified personnel ruining the kitchen work... My experience, based on 10 visits: after one person takes your aperitifs orders a second comes with the same question 5 min after (systematic); you are shown your table, nobody care about your jacket or scarves, i swear i never got it right the first time (mistakes in dressing, temperature, side dishes...) never !, last Saturday was the summon: unlike the previous time where the chef explained us that aged meat can't be cooked (medium rare), here i almost had to explain the waiter what a matured meat was - to his good he was really young and probably not trained one second; we witnessed a group of 3 sent to a uncleaned table (still all plates and stuff from a 6 people diner), they had to wait 15 min to get their table cleaned... while next to them an empty (but dirty) round table was decorated with a blue tissue to (later = 25 min) waiting to be used to eventually clean the table. Water came too late, not pleasant, not pro at all in the room. the staff is not aligned neither synchronized or coordinated, it's a pity.

We went to this place last weekend. Food (eel as well as the côte à l'os) was good; we regularly received fresh baked warm French fries; the ice cream Antillaise was delicious. The red wine was also very good.Personnel however was not too friendly and it is a pity that in a restaurant located in a Flemish municipality some personnel didn't even understand/speak Flemish.We asked for a "doggy bag" because all the food was not eaten; when we arrived at home we saw that the food was wrapped in a used bread bag! We think that for this kind of restaurant this is something "not done".

Excellent restaurant if you like to voyage around the world. They donât have an extensive menu but every plate is very good. Choice between Italian, Japanese, Asian fusion, Lebanese, etc. Tapas style, so you can mix it all and share if you want to. I go there quite often as they always have very nice suggestions. Good for every occasion: a long romantic dinner or a quick lunch with colleagues, friend or family.

Beeing a Belgian I am always interested in tasting the classic Steak with french fries and believe me - I have tested many restaurants before finding such a good steak experience. For me personally, Victoria is one of the best price/quality steak restaurants I know.They serve the Belgian classics, gotta to try the 'paling in 't groen' (if you are in to eating eel) as an appetizer. The portions are rather large and the size of the steaks are huge! A regular steak has the size of a brick :-)True, the decor, interior is looking like my grandma's place 20 years ago, but it's only adding charm to the restaurant. This is really how the interior of old people in Belgium looks like :-) The staff is super friendly and helpful! The only disadvantage may be the capacity of the restaurant, on busy evenings it's quiet noisy and they do have large families coming over for their weekly diner with the grand parents... If you want to finish in style, order a dessert! The serve pancakes flambé the traditional way, super good Irish coffee and their home made whipped cream is heaven!Don't wanna go home hungry but with a full tummy? Eat a (really) good steak in a Belgian decor? You won't be disappointed

The Wine Club is a very interesting address in Uccle, the Southern « commune » of Brussels.Located ch de Waterloo, Fort-Jaco, it serves wines. So far no surprise Interesting wines, most of them Bio, with a lot of references below 30 â¬.I was very excited to see (and taste ) Roc de Cambes 2012, a great bottle from François Mitjaville, the Bordeaux sorcerer.At 112 â¬, it looks pricy, but when you drink it, it explodes in the glass and surpasses a lot of much more expensive 1er Cru bottles.The first surprise comes along with the food. Most of the time, wine bars serve you banal humus and cheese board. Here the greek chef prepares delicious octopussy, an incredible risotto, tuna tataki, grilled vegetables and much more.A few days later I tried the beer list, and there comes the second surprise with almost 10 different bottled beers, all rated above 95/100 on RateBeer : Orval, Bellefleur, Gillardin, Lanterne⦠youâll need a few visits to approach them all.Last but not least, you can have a god meal with 2 wine glasses for less than 30 â¬.Highly recommended !
