Oddly, just before I left the UK for a Saga holiday at nearby Gavinana, I was lamenting that somehow I could never find one of those amazing restaurants that Rick Stein features where they roast an entire sheep or barbecue massive steaks from home killed cattle. Almost by accident, then, I stumbled on this amazing and unpretentious little place which provides astonishing quality cuts from its own next-door butchery. Being a pair of little old pensioners we were quite intimidated by the massive t-bone proffered to us and begged for something more manageable. At 900gm, it was about as small as was practicable, so we took the plunge. Weirdly, after twenty minutes of meat-eater heaven, it had all somehow disappeared! With a dish of fried potatoes and another of grilled vegetables, a half-litre jug of great local red, and a fine chocolate dessert, the bill was a modest â¬59. Rick, what are you doing this weekend?

Its at the end of the runs into Val di Luce, so the right place to arrange a rendezvous if you all head out differently in the morning .. and sit and have a nice coffee.

A little restaurant that was recommended to us. The atmosphere is warm & friendly. Open fires, nice food and fantastic beer. Happy to recommend to others to try this place.
