Viet House

With no signage on the street, we had to finally ask for directions. There was no parking available by the restaurant so we parked at the other end of the strip mall. It's a very small restaurant (about 8 tables) and most are for four people. When we visited they were occupied by just two people each so there were folks waiting. Our server, the daughter of the owner, was very pleasant. We lived in Vietnam for quite a while and when comparing the food, found this restaurant's offerings blander than what we had experienced. You do get a rather large serving, however. I was surprised to find a high chair and a booster seat (quite dirty) stored in one of the washrooms. The restaurant itself was quite clean and tidy looking, thankfully.

Sushi Garden

The owners and staff of this restaurant are very nice, and the place is usually in good shape cleanliness-wise. Their dynamite roll is fantastic and their agedeshi tofu is the best I've ever had. Their lunch specials are especially good value, and I really enjoy going there for them. However, I think they put WAY too much mayonnaise on a lot of their rolls, and that really ruins a lot of their sushi for me. Still, it's great to have a close-by place to go for Sushi and they can calm down a craving in a pinch :)

We were a family of 9 and called ahead to reserve a large table. We had 4 young children and they all loved the food. Shrimp tempura, noodle dishes, stir frys all yummy! The only suggestion would be to have the rice included.

I had the opportunity to try some new dishes that Fortune offers. Stuffed Eggplant and Peppers with Black Bean Sauce, Gai Lan (stir fried with ginger and white wine) and Marinated Chicken. They were excellent. Although they do require advanced order of a couple of days they are so worth it. I also had the chance to try seafood fried rice and Szechuan Beef that are available on the regular menu - these are a must try. Forget the Canadian/Chinese dishes that we all default to (ie Chicken Balls) and try something different. Knowing what to ask for now I am excited to put Fortune on my list of regular stops.

We ordered about 6 dishes and were generally pleased with them, especially the breaded shrimp, which was done with a nice light breading not that heavy stuff a lot of places use. Also really enjoyed the ginger beef-lots of flavor! One major miss for us was the Cantonese style chow mein. The noodles were soggy and it had zero flavor...Other than that worth a try if you are in the mood for chinese-prices are average and you get a ton of food!
