Yinchuan is the capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, and historically it was the former capital of the Western Xia Empire of the Tanguts. The name of the city literally means "silver river".

The West Pagoda complex is a short but pretty spot in the city. The sight is well managed and very well manteined. The entry ticket and tower tickets are sold separately. I did climb the tower, which was enjoyable but is difficult for older and less limber individuals as the stairs are steep and narrow.
