Ngilgi Cave

Explore the ancient wonders of Ngilgi Cave! The Cave is warm in winter and cool in summer. Ngilgi Cave is located just off Caves Road, a short distance north of Yallingup, beneath the limestone ridge which forms Cape Naturaliste. The fascinating association with a rich Aboriginal legend describing the battle between a good spirit (Ngilgi) and an evil spirit (Wolgine) gives Ngilgi Cave its name. Explore the cave and experience stunning stalactite, stalagmite, helictite and shawl formations. Visit an interpretive area detailing Ngilgi Cave's interesting history. A cafe, playground, barbecue facilities and walk trails make Ngilgi Cave a fun place to visit for the entire family. OPENING HOURS 9.00Am to 5.00Pm (First tour at 9.30Am Last entry to Ngilgi Cave at 4.00Pm.)

It was amazing to go down 67 metres to see this hidden wonderland of stalactities, stalagmites and crystals like hanging jewel straws glittering in the soft electric light. The story of the cave spirit Ngili, who saved the people from the rapacious and evil spirit, Wolgine, adds to the atmosphere.
Ngili Cave is one of a hundred or more found between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. As well as being just one of the four open to the public, it is also one of the biggest. The steps that take you from one cavern to the next and finally to the bottom are very narrow in places and you need to stoop low and mind your head.
When we were at the bottom I felt quite groggy. This was because of the extra carbon dioxide in the air. There were a number of plus aged visitors in our group however it is not the place for people with heart or breathing issues or those with mobility issues.
If you are thinking about a visit I say, "Don't miss this underground wonderland."

We often go here as the owners are such lovely people, the vinery is small but delightful and the wine is top shelf, especially the reds. And there is often the bonus of some dog company.

Injidup Beach

Reviewed By Jake L - Perth, Australia

Injidup Beach is located just off Caves Road in Yallingup at the end of some very confusing roads, but it is well worth exploring. The beach boasts an amazing swell, perfect for Surfing on one side and body Surfing on the other, where the waves aren't too big. There is also a massive sand dune on the left hand side of the beach which kids...and big kids, can ride down on a boogie board or on a piece of cardboard. I would not recommend spending all day here, but an hour or two is all you need to really discover the opulence of the South West Region.
Once you have had enough of the beach, you can explore the Injidup Natural Spa. This is not a mineral hot spring, but simply a small rock pool woven between rocks to create a spa- like pool where you can wash off the sand from the beach, if it hasn't already come off in the car. Sit back and feel the serenity in the pool and the splash of the crashing waves come amongst you for a truely unique experience.

Bush Shack Brewery is a family run business between Dunsborough and Yallingup in beautiful country settings, not far from the Ngilgi Caves..
Just dropped in to pick up a couple of Strawberry Blonde ( great beer with 6.4% alcohol content brewed with real strawberries).. and later came back to sample some good beer...
What a fantastic team of great women..service came with a smile: Jordy and Flick are friendly, knowledgeable and was good to learn about the different beers on the tap..
My favourite beer was the Milky Whale...will be back for more next time we are down South.
