Arcs Restaurant

Local housed in an antique building of the year 1350, with 8 medieval Gothic arches, which traded with an antique ice well, which is still preserved. Traditional Mediterranean cuisine century update with a careful selection of the farm products of Tarragona. With a menu of more than 150 references to wine.

Arcs is a restaurant located in the center of Tarragona, near the Cathedral. It is located in a stone building totally renovated. In fact, the place is very nice, where I can stay comfortably during hours meanwhile you dinner or lunch. Also, the staff was very friendly with us (we came here with my child and she was sleeping during almost all time, and the staff always helped us) and recommended the best dishes of the restaurant.
We decided to choose the degustationmenu (2 cold starters, 1 hot starter, 1 fish, 1 meat and 2 desserts). In fact, we tasted the following dishes: humus, homemade foie (excellent), tuna tartar (incredible!), black croquettes, a fish of the day and cannelonni of pig's feet (very good!). Also we tasted a gin tonic ice-cream and a brownie with ice-cream as desserts (probably the least good dishes) and we drank an excellent white wine of D.O. Tarragona called "Blanc del Terrer".
Summarizing, an amazing place to enjoy eating, dranking, speaking with your friends (and with the staff) and relaxing.

Its Roman celebration week in Tarragona and some of the restaurants are displaying their talents for Roman cuisine. Here at Sadoll we started with a salad of tomato, lettuces, goats cheese, with grapes, honey and some other herbs I just couldn't place. Then we had plates of foie, hake and stewed pork. Postre was a cheese flan with more honest, nuts and fruit. We finished up with coffee and biscuits.
Two hours and 25€ for a five course meal of this standard is quite amazing. I would happily have paid double for the chef's experienced. This was a great find, with lovely staff and great service.

A restaurant to be in the upper echelons should appeal to all the senses. Here and that is very important, the best is taste. The food is original, Spanish with just the right accent of Asiatica, especially Vietnamese. The portions are large tapas just right for sharing and the prices good for this quality. The service at a peak hour Saturday was a little slow but efficient aside the quirky idea of the orders marked in penciled note rapid food style. Hearing is not good with a full restaurant , even without children, was of higher decibels that should be expected on a quality restaurant, the bare tables, absence of tablecloths and plastic chairs contribute to amplify the cacophony of the full house. Eyesight and touch, if by the later we understand comfort of Seating, deserves low rating. The place looks like it has been taken over by a mix of efficiency experts and modern minimalist decorators and end up with the charm of a modern fast food (Ikea) restaurant. About half the seats are bar-style facing the open kitchen, modern, but unappealing to those looking for a comfort epicurean dinner. After two hours lunch there is little incentive to linger along as the buttocks feel the hard plastic chairs or wooden benches of the facility.
Overall, a good opportunity for excellent food, carefully prepared and presented marred by the funky environment unappealing to those of a certain age and international restaurant experience. It definitively is not a place for a romantic meal. And, by the way, why the do not change silverware throughout the meal?
The wine offerings were selective and at good prices.

The menu del dia is a good value. There are several options. We both got the mussels to start, the squat lobster rice for a main, and the crema catalana for dessert. We each got a glass of white wine which was excellent. The server was very helpful in explaining what everything was. The rice dish he said was like a risotto. This style of dish served in a deep pot is apparently the Catalan way to serve rice. It was delicious and the little lobsters were tasty. There was a type of mild mushroom in it that was very delicate. The server described the crema catalana as similar to creme brulee, and was able to assure us that it was gluten free, and knew all the ingredients. It had a delicate herb flavor. We ended up having a very generous and authentic Catalan meal for a very reasonable price - less expensive than some places where we just got a few tapas. The menu even came with a bottle of water! This felt fairly luxurious to us. European restaurants usually charge an arm and a leg for water. This was the best meal we had this trip so far, and it was a memorable one. El Llagut is highly recommended!

Our second time here and as great as the first. We had 2 pizzas and a bottle of wine along with lemoncello. Both pizzas were the real thing which seems hard to find in Spain. Crust reminds me of a flatbed and while they are simply done, the ingredients are great. Great service and wine list as well. We will be back.

We opted for the grand tasting menu and what a delicious journey of food. Innovative cooking with dishes such as terriyaki tuna with nacho crumbs are a delight to taste. The service is impeccable and this young duo, running this restaurant, deserve a very successful future. If we visit Tarragona again we will be back!
