We were desperately disappointed on the morning of Saturday 30th December to find the toilets locked when there were so many people enjoying the play park and walks in the Sandwell Valley Country Park. As a family group of almost 30 including children we met for a walk having travelled from various directions (Hall Green, Wolverhampton, etc). We (especially children) needed the loo before walking. Surely a popular place like this should have basic amenities open. Be warned - go before arriving.

I’ve always been a WBA fan, the Hawthorns is welcoming and is great for families. I go with my 9 year old and we always have great seats, it’s doesn’t matter where we sit!

I'm a frequent visitor to this farm as my young child loves it. She's so confident around the animals because she's had the opportunity on a few occasions to feed and pet some animals. The prices mean it's accessible to lots of families on a budget.

Fantastic afternoon climbing for my daughters birthday well trained staff nice atmosphere would try again cafe available and little area for smaller children large space with lots of room on walls car park gets busy and sat nav directions don't always work out right it's not far from asda your in the right area if you go by that

The Oak House was built in the 1620s/30s with the brick extension at the back, the Belvedere (tower), chimney stacks and old barn being added in the 1650s. The house is furnished in period style and has a wide range of events, activities, community groups and school holiday fun all year around.

Our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last. An easy tram (Metro) ride from Birmingham and very easy to find. You alight at Lodge Road / West Bromwich Town Hall (a stone’s throw from West Bromwich town centre) and follow the brown signs from the Metro stop. This was a seven to eight minutes’ walk for a party whose eldest was in her eighth decade!
This is a fascinating place of great charm and interest to the casual visitor or history buff, accommodating both children and adults extremely well. The Oak House has two faces, quite literally: one possibly Tudor, one Jacobean, but restored in Victorian times. The focus is on how a prosperous Puritan family lived during the troubled seventeenth century – having chosen not to migrate to the New World. The interior is very well-furnished with beautiful period furniture on loan from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. The oak panelling on the walls is original to the house, most interesting and very extensive. The staff are superb: welcoming, very knowledgeable, and passionate about the house and its fascinating history.
On the day we visited, two staff members were in period costume and in the roles of previous chatelaines, checking that we did not have the plague before we entered the house, and then helping children to make pomanders from traditional herbs. In the meantime, they furnished us with a wealth of history, which was perfectly tailored to the visitors, from young children to grandmothers. It was particularly interesting to have the Oak House’s historical context explained to us in great depth, revealing that the times of the house’s inception were fearful, dangerous and dark for many.
The great skill of the staff at the Oak House is that their depth of knowledge is matched by their enthusiasm. Briefs, audio clips and notes in the rooms are informative, and are aimed particularly at younger visitors. The Visitors’ Centre is a very large, new and spacious area, with welcome facilities, food and drink. (We were visiting on a Bank Holiday and the weather was typically wet, so making the outdoor options limited).
We would love to return with a class of Year Fours to experience a school visit, as we imagine it would be very well-organised, enriching, as well as a lot of fun.
This must surely be a jewel in the crown of Sandwell Council’s no doubt hard-squeezed Museums Service, and a shining example of how a museum can operate so brilliantly in these dark and austere times.
6. Manor House Museum

The Manor House or Bromwic Hall was once at the centre of the medieval Manor of Bromwic and was the home of the Lord of the Manor and local administrative centre. The oldest parts date back to 1270 with 15th century additions. The building was a pub and restaurant from the 1960s until 2009 when it came into the guardianship of sandwell Museums, who are slowly developing and restoring the site while putting on a wide variety of events, activities, community groups, school activities, tours and much more.

This lovely old manor house was gifted to the people of West Bromwich some years ago by a previous Alderman. Was originally an upmarket Farm House. It is an interesting house furnished in the suitable period, Gardens have also been designed to suit the age of the house. Various demonstrations and activities go on throughout the year.

The Miner's Trail is a suite of purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Sandwell Valley, between Birmingham, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton. The trails are wrapped around themselves like spaghetti to make good length trails fit in a small footprint. There are different level trails from intermediate to expert, with serious bikes required for the expert trail. The intermediate trail features steep scents and descents and challenging surfaces. The trails wind through a wood so there's birdsong to serenade your cycling. It is next to a large free car park and a lake. There are no facilities on site but Forge Mill Farm is very close by with toilets and a cafe.

Bad with size limit if you are one cm taller than the size limit you are still not able to go and play I rate it one star. I recommend you don't go to funky monkey.
