Just returned from a day learning jousting and horse back archery. What an amazing day I’ve had!! I already ride but the horses are so versatile that the one non-rider in our group was still able to fully participate!! First, we learnt how to joust!! We used lances to collect rings along the tilt, in walk, trot and canter, and then had a go at the quintain, also in walk, trot and canter. The afternoon was spent trying out horse back archery. We started with firing arrows from a standstill, then proceeded walk, then trot down the line firing at three targets as we went. The finale (and for me, the highlight) was the canter down the row, firing one arrow at the middle target!! Fantastic!! The horses were well-behaved and knew their jobs and the team looking after us were brilliant from start to finish!! Excellent!!!!!

Went walking with my dad, who’s 80 this year. A little bit long to walk all the way round with Dad but he made it! Beautiful place and we saw all different types of groups from families to solo walkers. Quite easy but a few light inclines and mostly a good walking surface if you stick to the path. Only problem is parking a large pot holes on the track to get there.

Foundry Wood is a community woodland in the heart of Leamington Spa. You can visit the woodland for walks and quiet enjoyment on most days of the week. We also run a range of fun activities for children and adults including kids craft workshops, family forest school days, adult basket making, conservation volunteering and much more. Foundry Wood is open 10am to 4pm on most days of the year.
