What to do and see in Valletta, Island of Malta: The Best Fun Activities & Games

February 11, 2022 Alida England

Founded in 1565 by the Order of St John as a refuge for soldiers returning from the Crusades, Valletta is now the capital of Malta and a piece of living history. With an unsurpassed collection of original Baroque architecture, fortified city walls overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and the spectacular Co-Cathedral of St John, which features intricately carved stone vaults and a famed painting by Caravaggio, it is no wonder that this smallest of European capital cities is a world heritage site.

The Cinema Bar by Citylights

Darling little theatre in the heart of Valletta. A nice little selection of chilled beers and ciders (both from Malta and abroad) to be enjoyed while you can relax and watch and indie movies and even some blockbuster for free. We walked in mid way through The Bookshop starring Bill Nighy but we saw that Pulp Fiction was playing later that week. Be sure to check the board for view times and movie options.

The cinemas here are bit smaller and cosier than the other larger cinemas in Malta. They are well kept, the staff are young but friendly and the selection is great. Highly recommended if you plan to visit Valletta and watch a movie there.
