My mom and I spent 6 days in the Cusco/ Sacred Valley area and booked the following with Venturua - Machu Picchu, Andean Ceremony, Llama trek, Cusco city tour and all day Maras, Moray, Chinchero and Ollantaytambo trips. We met unbelievable people, saw unbelievable vistas and most of all met amazing people. All of the trips were with our guide Nick Darwin to whom we owe this unforgettable experience. We highly recomment Venturia and especially the young and yet so knowledgeable Nick , who made our trip to the Sacred Valley that much better. We sure will be back Ventuaria and will certainly request Nick again. Graciac por todo !

Tour Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is composed of numerous rivers that descend through gorges and small valleys; It has numerous archaeological monuments and indigenous peoples. That was Sacred Valley. This valley was much appreciated by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities. It was one of the main production points because of the richness of its land and place where the best corn grain is produced in ancient Peru.

Abraham is amazing at what he does. With at least 10 years experience, he is very knowledgeable about his country. We originally booked Machu Picchu with him based on a referral, but after spending a whole day with him, we decided to do Laguna Humantay and Rainbow Mountain with him as well. He is so patient with answering any questions we had and made suggestions on other places we could visit in Cusco. I highly recommend booking Life Expeditions for private or small group tours as it made the whole trip much more memorable.

The hike was tiring but rewarding. Beautiful views. Took us about 3 hours roundtrip. Wear many layers. Our guide was friendly, not great English. The breakfast and lunch were okay, at the same restaurant. No toilet paper in the restroom. The roads were bumpy and the ride was uncomfortable. Our van broke down on the way back and we had to hop on another group’s van. They dropped us off at the town center rather than our hotel, so we had to walk back 12 min.

Visiting the top tourist destinations of Cusco is always a great adventure. Imagine an ATV tour through the beautiful Andean postcard-like landscape that will leave you speechless. You will be able to do this and more during this tour while riding a 4-wheel metal beast: an ATV (quad bike). Admire the huge rural meadows that characterise the great Sacred Valley and get to know the Salt Mines of Maras. They have been exploited since the Inca age and their origin still remains a mystery today. With our tour, you will get there without being surrounded by large tourist groups that either visit before or afterwards. Next, you will head to the archeological site of Moray, known as a laboratory of agricultural research that allowed the Incas to test and plant different crops at various elevation levels. You will spend around 20-30 minutes at each of the sites. Let the mysterious Sacred Valley amaze you while being on a quad bike!

Inclusions: Roundtrip private transportation from your Hotel., Visit of Moray and Maras (entrance is not included)., Aprox. 1 hour on a modern and well maintained ATV., Helmet with glasses and gloves for driving., Professional guide (he will not guide you through Maras and Moray, you will do this on your own), First-aid kit.

Exclusions: Personal accident insurance and ATV insurance (not possible to purchase it from us), Tips for your guide, Meals., Entrance to (cash payment at destination itself):, Moray S/ 70 (for foreigners), S/ 40 (for Peruvians); if you have don't have to pay for the entrance., Maras S/ 10

3,000 vats of salt support the economy in this area. Salty water that runs down from the mountain is woven through the vats with irrigation. When the water evaporates it leaves white salt on the top, pink salt in the middle and brown salt on the bottom. The brown is not edible but as other uses. Amazing to see.

9. Try Gourmet Peruvian cuisine with a Local in the Sacred Valley of Urubamba

Urubamba Valley, Jirón Huascar 501, Urubamba 08661, Peru Traveling Spoon

Join Diego in his outdoor kitchen where he will show you how to make classic Peruvian dishes like ceviche (fresh fish cured in citrus juice), lomo saltado (marinated beef sirloin, sautéed with onions, peppers and fried potatoes), tacu tacu (rice and roasted beans), papa la huancaína (potatoes with a spicy, savory sauce), causa rellena (potato puree garnished with yellow aji sauces and lemon, stuffed with onion, avocado and tuna) or arroz chaufa (sautéed rice with green onions and sesame seeds, a chifa (Chinese-Peruvian) dish). You will learn how to properly cut the fish for the ceviche and how to carefully balance the flavors, and he will teach you some of his favorite cooking tricks.  Diego can demonstrate how to cook the dishes, or you can have a hands-on lesson. Just let them know your preferences! What better way to learn about a country's culture and cuisine than to cook with its locals?

Inclusions: Private cooking class + meal with your host Anilu, Beverages, All taxes, fees and handling charges, Gratuities, Lunch, Dinner

Exclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off

Diego and Anilu accepted our request to join the cooking experience at the last minute. We were very happy to be accommodated. The experience was exactly what we had hoped for! We toured their organic herb garden, learned how to make ceviche with river trout (amazing), and an Asian/Peruvian fusion dish using beef tenderloin and stir fry techniques. I also picked up a few new knife skills from Diego. We highly recommend this cooking experience as one of your dinner options while visiting the Sacred Valley.
